Subject: Library menu question

Howdy! I have P4 and just noticed something: All of the library menus (People, Faces, etc.) open to the full length of the file name with the exception of the Pose menu which only opens to the width of ten characters. Is there any way of having the pose menu open up further? (makes it hard to figure out some of them. Thnks

I don't know why it does this either. I've been 'suffering' with this for quite a few months now and figured it was just a quirk of this version of P4. I use P4 for compositing a picture before taking it into P5 to add P5 Mats and using Firefly. This little quirk does make it difficult to run through the Pose and Mat files to find what you're looking for. My pose folder is so stuffed, that sometimes to find a pose I resort to using P3dExplorer to search my folders for a particular pose while Poser itself is minimized. I hopeful wish for Poser6 is for there to be a separate main menu folder to throw all the tons of Mat Poses into. And I have a ton of them. I started a filing system to arrange it all. V2 and V3 poses start with 1F-"name", and Mats, are 2MAT-"name". That puts the Poses I use most up at the top of the listing, and the Mat files all bunched down below that. So unless someone crusader comes in and answers this question for us, I suggest to you, Nukeboy, to download from freestuff the P3dExplorer to use on the side for locating poses. Liz

Too many files ... and Poser starts "chopping" filenames. Sorry. ;=[

Okay, at least it's not "personal". Thanks for sharing that it's a "quirk". I'll use 'creative' file naming to get by.

P5 has Library quirk. There seems to be a limit on how many pose files within a folder it can display before it has a kaniption and shows all the poses as Mr. Shruggers. Its annoying little quirk and the reason why I use P4 for compsiting and P5 for the Mats and rendering. Liz wink, wave Yo, geep!

Latexluv, if you mean Poser 5 stops showing the icons in the pose library, maybe you just need to set the display limit to a different number. Here's what you need to do. 1) In your Poser>Runtime>prefs folder locate the "LibraryPrefs.xml" file and make a backup copy. 2) Open the original "LibraryPrefs.xml" in a text editor. 3) Find the entry "previewNum=" which is in the 4th line down from the top, and change the variable value which follows it. Initially it is set to 100, but you can change it to whatever you want. I changed mine to 500 I think. You should now be able to see your icons :) If that's not what you mean, then please ignore this post! :)

Wierd.... I don't have that file. All my files in that folder are "Default UI" with various numbers which look like resolutions. I only did the minimum Poser install, so maybe that file is omitted when you do that?
