There are several, I use Truespace. I believe there is a demo version at http://www.caligari.com. You may also like to check out this free modeling program I found at http://www.anim8or.com
You might try ac3d from http://www.comp.lancs.ac.uk/computing/users/andy/ac3d.html (its time-unlimited shareware and has all basic features plus easy-to-use user interface) or perhaps ppmodeler from http://webplaza.pt.lu/public/saunier/ppmodeler.html ( freeware, advanced features, multi-platform, but somewhat nasty user interface ) Happy modelling !

The best modeling program for the novice is Nendo $99(PC). They have a fully functioning demo you can try that saves to native format.Attached Link: http://www.planet-3d.com/searchengine/3D_Resources/sPatch
The simplest and it's free is sPatch. Don't let its small size fool you with a little work you can create some nice stuff. It is not longer support but you can still find links to it. http://www.planet-3d.com/searchengine/3D_Resources/sPatchAttached Link: http://www.3dlinks.com/
heyas; i'm gonna recommend you go to 3dlinks and browse through the links to all the free and commercial modelling apps, and see if you find any you like. After checking all the above links I could, I have to say: none of them has a Mac version... There was the 3dlinks page, it had a link "Mac Tools". "GREAT!" I thought as I clicked. Turned out to be "Misc Tools". It only looked like "Mac Tools" because it was one of those Windows-designed web pages where the type comes out really tiny in Netscape Mac. Also I found PuppetTime for Mac http://www.puppettime.com/ which looks REALLY interesting, but has nothing to do with making models for Poser.

without spending hundreds, what's the best modelling tool for someone like my self who wants to make my own mesh objects for use in poser 4, since it lakes the features to do so? I am aware of many capable programs available, but they have more features than i would ever use, or even discover. any help would be appreciated.
