I code my album by hand, but I've played around with JAlbum (http://jalbum.net/) and it's very good... and free :) If you have MySQL database facilities at your hosting site, you might want to check out Coppermine (http://coppermine.sourceforge.net/). It's also free.

Greetings, I have seen several web sites that use 'Gallery' -- it seems to use a script to generate PHP code which then dynamically generates the HTML code. This must cause high processor utilization in the server in addition to being difficult to debug. That would be one to NOT use. Those sites and the 'Gallery' software stick in my mind because they are so terrible. * On a gallery page that has both images and folders, there is no way to tell (in advance) if the icon is for a single image or a folder. * Sometimes pages don't load, or come up blank. * Sometimes images don't load. * On some sites the image display page is 5 to 10 times wider than my monitor -- I find that I have to do a very vigorous scroll left/right to find the image. Someone must have decided that if the product was targeted for amateurs to use, it should be written by other amateurs. In addition, of the dozen or so websites I have seen, no two were running the same version and all buggy in different ways. MGD
JavaVM can be downloaded here: http://java.sun.com/j2se/1.4.2/download.html You need the JRE (Java Runtime Enviroment)

Photoshop Elements has a decent one.Nikon View6 even better. Here is one using NikonView6 http://www.dbgrafix.com/Photo/skies/page1.htm -------------------------------------------- Then one using PS Elements2.0 http://www.dbgrafix.com/Photo/oct/index.html ------------------------------------------- One using PhotoshopCS http://www.dbgrafix.com/Photo/about_around_june/index.html No matter which one though, I still find it neccesary to edit them in notepad for colour and font, plus links and such.

Thanks! I am purchasing CS this week, so I will check it out. I have tried several programs and none give me just what I want. ACDCee is close except that it includes their logo in a banner. JAlbum interest me, but just concern that some people may not have the JRE, and will not down load it. That is one reason why I haven't used Flash.
for JAlbum you only need JRE to CREATE the album, not to view it on the web ;)

Randy if you know any php (even if you don't really, I didn't but picked it up quickly) you could try folderblog as a solution to creating a web-based gallery or photoblog.
It doesn't require a database backend and is very configurable, just check out the different "featured folderblog sites" at the folderblog home page, and best of all it's free! I run my photoblog using it and have never looked back.

Just curious as to what (if any) does everyone uses to create HTML albums for use on the web?
