Subject: ...and CastIronFlamingo supplies the TARDIS console room!

Let's give it up for CastIronFlamingo! He just completed what has constantly dumbfounded me, the console room of the TARDIS!

Little Dragon suggested I might want to offer a console room to go along with the console prop I uploaded. That would make sense. Unless I were to depict scenes from "Inferno" (when Pertwee's Doctor was servicing the console outside of the TARDIS), it would logical to offer a complimentary set. However, I tried various methods to create the famous recessed roundels, but the Boolean operations required sent the polygon count through the roof.

Well, it looks like CastIronFlamingo came to the rescue! His prop seems to be based upon the later Baker/early Davison "stage set" just like my console. It's optimized for Poser and renders with appropriately sharp edges and smooth curves.

Just click on the link to find his free contributions.

Displayed above is a render of his his room with my console. Don't they go well together?

Again, let's thank CastIronFlamingo! Yay!!!

Sincerely,

Bill

This is an excellent combination, thanks for pointing us to it, and thank you for the very impressive console too. Dr Who was my most fav program, apart from Star Trek, when I was a kid and this set is gonna let me play with Daleks and the like for hours. 8) Cheers! Catlin

You might want to rotate the "set" upon its "Y" axis 90 degrees so that the default "main camera" will view the interior. Fortunately, it is properly scaled and it rests flush with the ground plane. Now, who was it who modeled that hat stand for Melanie? And which thread was it. A long time ago I had given her an early protype of my console and she wanted a stand to include in her render. If that prop can be located, one would have everything but the characters themselves. Now we need someone to create the character morphs. I've done the Cushing Doctor, the Wisher Davros, a "Freak" based Sontaran and a saturnine Master. "Tegan" has done, well, Tegan, Davison's Doctor, Nyssa and Adric. Who's up next? Sincerely, Bill

Rule #80:
When in the console room, hang on to the hatstand ... the TARDIS may buck and sway, but the hatstand always stays upright.

Zippo has one over at Laboratory 108. Looks like a good match.

Here's the thread in question. Melanie called it a "hall tree". That's why my initial searches couldn't find it. Unfortunately, it appears the link to the ZIP files is no longer valid. I guess one can ask GeoEgress directly. I already have the item, so it's a "non-issue" for me. Sincerely, Bill

And, folks, just remember that BBC Sci-Fi shows will re-use any set not actually nailed down. Well, especially when not nailed down, but you know what I mean. Just a lick of paint, 's all it needs, guvnor.

Speaking of British Sci-Fi shows, does the Default Poser guy remind anyone else of Kryten from Red Dwarf?

Based upon discussions in some recent threads, I've opted to play it conservatively and have removed my "Doctor Who" related free items before I may be given an official "warning". Not that it really means anything in the grand scheme of life, but I'd rather not be penalized for actions that were once deemed acceptable. There are people here I've grown to like, and there is much valued information to be utilized. If I were banned, I would no longer have access to that information or some of my friends. This does not mean I will lock away the files, never to be shared again. Rather, I will seek other venues such as other sites still willing to share fan material. I will let you know what site(s) I have selected. I will not argue Renderosity's decision. As a privately owned site, the administrators have the right to decide what is permitted and what is not (as long as it does not violate state and Federal law). And if the reasons I've been told in confidence are correct, it does make sense. I am, however, saddened that members have been given "marks" against their permanent records after the site owners allowed the "concerned" items to remain for months, if not years. Especially when there's been a "screening" process in place since April 2003. Personally, I do not think that is fair, but again I will not debate the administrators' decisions. If requested, I will remove the "DW" tributes from my gallery should the administrators deem them no longer acceptable. Again, based upon privilaged information, that day will most likely come. Sincerely, Bill

All three of the "Doctor Who" items I removed from Renderosity can now be found at the link provided. Let us be thankful of JHoagland's generosity for offering the VanishingPoint link portal! Sincerely, Bill

And here are those excellent props plus my Peri Brown model. That's her pet Dalek, he's quite safe.

He might be safe but Peri is a different matter entirely! She'll hurt you! <grins, ducks and runs>
