Subject: Do people know what an RSR is?

Helgard ( ) posted Wed, 01 December 2004 at 7:59 PM · edited Sun, 08 September 2024 at 8:30 AM

A stupid question maybe, but why would 264 people download the Poser 4 RSR files for a Poser ProPack and Poser 5 market place item that has only sold 7 copies? Are they all intending to buy it? Am I going to be rich? Or do some people not know what an RSR file is. I have just done some maths, and if 264 Poser 4 users have downloaded the RSR files because they are going to buy it, and P4 users are 30% of the market, does this mean I am going to sell 880 copies? Should I go and put the deposit down on my Rolls Royce today, or wait a week, lol.

Some downloaded it because they already have the product.

Some downloaded it because they intend to buy the product.

Some downloaded it simply because they're obsessive-compulsive hoarders.

Welcome to my world.

Little Dragon, I know you are supposed to download everything, how else would you know where everything was when we ask you? What exactly did you think we were paying you for? Ummmm.... You did get the cheque, didn't you? It is in the mail.

I didn't actually download your thumbnails (or igohigh, for that matter ... he'd clash with my decor). But I won't deny that I have strong hoarding instincts.

Of course you have strong hoarding instincts, I wonder about the dragon that didn't have them :-)

Why shouldn't speech be free? Very little of it is worth anything.

I thought RSR was REALLY SMALL RENDER?? my BAD

You might as well PAY attention, because you can't afford FREE speech

Laver2k ( ) posted Thu, 02 December 2004 at 10:26 AM

I think the main reason for all the dowloads is that people just see the thumbnail and believe what they see it was they get. So if ur showing a texture for a building they would think that the building is included.

Aureeanna ( ) posted Thu, 02 December 2004 at 1:10 PM

alot of people download "everything" just because it's free....and I dare say never really look at what it is first.

JHoagland ( ) posted Thu, 02 December 2004 at 1:28 PM

It gets even better: The RSR files in the Free Stuff are ONLY for people who have purchased the Military Environment here at Renderosity. The version of the product that's for sale at Poser Pros and Vanishing Point inlcudes these rsr files. And even then, the freebie is only needed by P4 users- the product comes with png thumbnails for PP and P5 users. But, the long-standing question still remains: why is there such a HUGE discrepany between the number of free add-on downloads and the number of purchases of the required product? P.S. The thumbnail cleary states "RSR Files" and the description says this that nothing else is included. Why would people think that they are getting more than that? --John

John, they don't read, they click and download cause it's free and they can.

Jim Burton ( ) posted Fri, 03 December 2004 at 12:10 PM

...Incidently, if you use Poser 4 RSR files in the Poser 5/PP versions you will not have this problem, they get converted automatically. ;-)
