I am about to reinstall bryce, and I have models and textures all over the place that I have imported to bryces presets and objects list. I dont want to have to find all of them all over again. Does anyone know which file bryce keeps the settings in for the location of all that, so I can copy it and just overwrite the one it sticks on after the install? Much appreciation for info.

Yep....

In windows explorer go to C:Program FilesCorelBryce 5

you want to save the
Presets folder
this is the folder that has your materials, trees, skies, etc. You can just overwrite the Presets folder in your new install with this one and you will have all your materials etc back.

Doh..... Man I did the Wrong way for about the first 2 years I used Bryce...Then One time I got so Pissed that it took almost a full day to Import I went to my neiborhood computer store and was talking a slipped it in that I had to import all these different folders and stuff each install Man did they ever look at me funny when I said I had to import form different folders within one folder...Then it hit me...! So no never Stupid...Like me just Learning....

With my 'new' pc (now almost a year old) I made a firm resolution not to have HUGE lists of materials in every library, and to be disciplined about it. So before importing bunches of new materials or objects I make a new folder in the right sub-section of the Presets folder, and shift the new stuff into that. Also, in each sub-section I have a Temporary folder (a tip I got on this forum, it may have been from Zhann, can't remember). So if you're using textures just for one project, and don't want to bloat your library...... or if you just want to check out how something looks, you can import it, use it, then delete the folder afterwards. A clean HD is a golden opportunity to re-organize :^))

I find it hard to find anything if the different libraries have too many objects or textures. If they're separated out into different folders it's easier to keep track of what you have IMO

I have a tutorial on my site on how to organize your presets. Keeping your presets short and sweet makes it easier to back up and less likely to crash. The big gotcha with Bryce is that you can delete an item from the preset, but it never goes away. So, you can have a preset folder with only 1 item in it but it is 400MB on your disk. Then, when you decide to add something to it Bryce can seem to lockup. If you do a 3 finger salute, you stand a good chance of corrupting all of your preset folders... Peggy
