THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Everyone needs to take a breath.

drawbridgep ( ) posted Sun, 05 December 2004 at 5:41 PM · edited Wed, 25 December 2024 at 9:15 AM

I've read the heated posts of the past few days and I'm upset. We've put up our christmas tree and I'm sitting here listening to Christmas songs, introducing my American wife to the wonders of Slade (should have seen her face when I showed her a picture of Noddy) and the Pogues with Kirsty Macoll and I'm on my third lemon martini, so things are blurry, but I'd like to say to everyone... please chill out, take a breath and remember what season we're in. God bless us everyone.

Lemon vodka (Grey Goose not the crappy kind) with lemonade, lemon juice and lemoncello. It's a lemon based drink believe it or not. AND since this is my thread, nothing but happy thoughts are allowed.

After leaving all behind in the golden abyss, Warm & fuzzy sounds excellent. Although I do not drink fuzzy, I'll settle for this glass of Nog with nutmeg. Cheers Phil, Welcome to your first USA Holiday & thanks for bringing your UK spirit with you. Rod

Who woulda thought, looking at Shane MacGowan and Kirsty McColl singing that song, that she'd be dead years before him :^( He brings the idea of 'self-destruction' to new heights. He was wheeled onstage in a wheelchair last year in Dublin :^( Edit to add - and threw up on stage.

I don't know what if this thread had anything to do with it or not but I had a wonderful dream that I was young and in the arms of a handsome asian foreign exchange student cuddling. It was one of those warm and fuzzy dreams and it felt soooo good. Thanks Phil if you had anything to do with it, lol. Off to work, have a nice day everyone. :-D

Hugs Ray :-D

drawbridgep ( ) posted Mon, 06 December 2004 at 7:42 AM

Ang - Nothing to do with me I'm 'fraid. I'm not young or asian, or and exchange student. Rayraz - It's great stuff. I don't think it's a real cocktail, so might have to patent it. Plus, I don't have a hangover!! Orbital - No, didn't show her Shane. I didn't want her to throw up. Pog - Yeah, was a shame. Not that she died first, just that she died. Doublecrash - Yeah, great song. Really says Christmas to have an ugly Irish guy spitting guinness over you while singing. :-) ysvry - I'd settle for 5.5 out before next christmas. doug - Man, what do you think the Internet is for? Striving - Penalty for mentioning the H20 in a happy thread. And yeah, Slade are the masters. ICM - Yeah, I tried to bring some spirit with me, but it got confiscated. MrD - Christmas wouldn't be christmas without chocolate and candy. And since I've got here, my new fave... Jelly Bellies. I don't think you can get them in the UK. So hints out there to those getting me xmas pressies... JB's.

The song you are thinking of is called Run, Run Away. That was one of their later albums, I have that too.. Good tunes on there. I believe it also has "My Oh My" on it. A song they rerelased about 5 times hoping for it to be a hit in the US. Great tune.

pakled ( ) posted Mon, 06 December 2004 at 3:20 PM

hmm sackrat..sounds more like Beer Goggles..;) All I remember of Power Station was the cover of "Ginny Long" (sp?), and 'some like it hot'..(I think, it's been a few years..;)

Sackrat - Yeah, it does mean something. My adopted family are Detroit Tigers fans, so I have to cheer with them. Although on Thanksgiving they played against the Indy Colt's which is my new home town, so I was torn (Colt slaughtered them :-). Personally, I prefer college football. GO BLUE!! And while we're on the subject of American sports, who saw the Indiana Pacers take on the entire crowd a few weeks back?! Amazing piece of sporting history. Also, I think you'll find it's cheques, not checks :-)

Uhhhh,.........you mean the Lions ? Tigers are a baseball team,...........Hey, now that would be something to see ! Yeah, a great moment in sports,.........although it was a basketball game I found myself thinking of the old Rodney Dangerfield line "I went to a fight and a hockey match broke out".

Colts' quarterback (Peyton Manning) used to be on my favorite college team (University of Tennessee)so now I like them too. Also fond of Tennessee Titans. (I live in Tennessee, you gotta support the home teams). :^)
