Not sure who exactly started the Alan Alda gag in reference to celebrity clones, but it sort of stuck (at least with me). Here is an update of the morph I have been working on for anyone who was interested in the original thread.

Very, very close :-)

It doesn't look anything like Alan Alda ....

VERY Nice !!! Id say eyes and nose are perfect as they are ! The only suggestions Id have are this: The outer tips of the eybrows could be a little closer to the outer corners of the eyes. Lips are slightly overdone, especially the upper lip. Make the mouth a wee bit smaller and raise it to compensate for it. But I say it again : VERY GOOD work ! :-O stahlratte

@mathman - you know, you're right. I think I need glasses. stahlratte - thanks for the feedback.

hehehe....of course you realize I'm only joking :) seriously though, one thing I observed was that the upper eyelids look quite different. Curious to know how you did it....for example, did you somehow use the horizontal and vertical lines as guides of some sort ? ....

shadownet ( ) posted Tue, 07 December 2004 at 12:22 AM

Yeah, knew you were kidding. :O) Actually, mostly just eyeballed it. I did import the face shot as a background, and tried to shape V3 heads with the morphs, using outline mode to see how it lined up. The profile is pretty close to, but I used a different pic of AJ, and her face has changed some over the years. I found it hard to get the shape just right using the stock morphs because a minor change seemed to throw something else off. The mouth and eyes in particular is hard to get right. I could shape the mouth fairly close for the front view, but when viewed from the side the mouth appeared off. I finally settled for a happy compromise. To get it closer, I will probably need to do some custom morphs. I plan to age the morph (for lack of better term) since what I am after is AJ as Laura Croft, and again her face has changed a bit over the years, from the face shot here to present day - but don't we all. Only she looks good, and I don't. LOL

The top lip is still a bit too big.

CODY ( ) posted Tue, 07 December 2004 at 4:28 AM

Who's it supposed to be????;-)

You're not allowed to mention Alan Alda. I got bitched out for something along those lines (well, I got bitched out because someone else said it wasn't funny and I made a silly remark about how good it was to have someone around to let me know what was and wasn't funny). Anyway, it's apparently wrong to mention Alan Alda. Or something. I can't remember. I also agree that the top lip is a little too full. And that it doesn't look anything like Alan Alda. ;-) bonni (who also looks nothing like Alan Alda)

xantor & elizabyte - I agree, the top lip is still a tad off.

As for not being allowed to mention Alan Alda. It is a sad day when mentioning the name of an actor lands a person in trouble. I can see the future. Lets go see that new movie (insert censor bleep) starring (insert censor bleep) produced and directed by (bleep bleep). (Bleep) plays the mother of (bleep) the Great (Darn, probably should have bleeped "the Great. Now I'm going to get it.)

I don't think it has gotten quite that bad - yet :O)

Cody - I tried to make the V3 figure (on the left) resemble the photo (on the right). The picture on the right is of Angelina Jolie when she was younger.

DrunkMonkey ( ) posted Tue, 07 December 2004 at 12:50 PM

The only thing I notice is her eyes seem to need to be deeper set. I don't know if that can really be done or not but other than that (and the lip which others pointed out) it looks pretty much spot on to me.

Hi DrunkMonkey, thanks for the imput. I have not decided if the eyes need to be deeper or if they just lack shadow. From the side view they look about right, but I am still messing around with the depth just to see if I can get it looking closer.

Your lips look more like what we think AJ's lips look like than what they did/ do? look like. Collegen springs to mind suddenly. In some ways, including all the "wrong" parts, eyes, etc, your morph resembles AJ, more than her own photo. I'm amused by that, but it's late at night and I'm amused by just about anything. Emily

It must be late, cause what you said made sense. LOL! Thanks for commenting. :O)

The columella is the fleshy part of the nose below the tip and just above the frustum (the well between nose and upper lip). Typically it's lower than the nares (the nostril wings). Unfortunately the DAZ contingent usually get this wrong and set it even with the nares -- a mistake they've repeated since they were Zygote doing Poserdude and Posette.

shadownet ( ) posted Tue, 07 December 2004 at 10:51 PM

That and a few other things. I've gone as far as I can go with the V3 head morphs, I will use magnets to finish up the remaining tweaks that are needed. Before I did that, however, I wanted to get a fresh perspective, and it helps having a few extra eyes to spot what is still off. :O)
