THE PLACE FOR ALL THINGS BRYCE - GOT A PROBLEM? YOU'VE COME TO THE RIGHT PLACE

Subject: Where have I seen those mats before....

Attached Link: http://www.scifi.com/earthsea/

Just took the link the SciFi's new mini series 'EarthSea' and I'd swear the island images used were done in Bryce! Take the map and go explore, there are 5 islands to visit...

You might very well have something there...

lol - is it me or do all those islands look eerily similar to each other in just about every way? Am I doing something wrong?

And they didn`t do a very good job of them, did they? Roke has a perfectly square shoreline. Weekend project for the office boy?. He he.

Of course it looks familiar. It's the basic Mediterranean terrain mat. WHICH DOESN'T LOOK MEDITERRANEAN AT ALL!!! I had to get that off my chest. As a person who was born on the Mediterranean, I really object to the misrepresentation. When I saw the link I really had high hopes, because I adore the books (except the fourth, of course), but this... they couldn't have paid somebody to create at least a custom mat? And one that would be more fitting for the novels, too. And where is the Knoll of Roke? With so many people who can create a good terrain in Bryce, we get THIS? Ptoooie!

I wonder who did the graphics? You know it's quite likely they are a member here or at 3dcommune. Come on, 'fess up! Can you imagine the island in the Hot 20. OK, that's rhetorical, I don't want to fan the flames. As for the show. I will be watching it with some trepidation. I guess I just really don't like the title. I'm sure Ursula could have come up with something better. And I'm worried about LOTR rip off syndrome.

I couldn't help but laugh when I saw the islands, in the books the islands look very different, they could have at least used different mats and terrains for different islands to make them interesting...geez, and I thought SciFi had a bigger budget...LOL Although I though the rolling parchment map was kinda neat...I too am looking forward to the show, since there isn't alot of SciFi/Fantasy programming out there, I'm hoping it's at least as good as the 'Taken' series....

Ah come on guys!... somebody really is proud of what they've done with those. Somebody who knows that Bryce can do some cool stuff and they've tinkered with it a bit and they are pleased with the amazing worlds they are able to create with it. And then to top it off... they get an opportunity to make some graphics for a MOVIE! Wouldn't you jump at the chance no matter how novice your skills were?!

We're just jealous that they picked someone else. If they were here and had said, "Hey, I just got picked to do graphics for a new TV show's website!" we'd be totally thrilled for them and give them all the right ooh's and ahh's... But they're not here, so we can be jealous.
