Subject: New purchasing problem

ianb ( ) posted Mon, 18 December 2000 at 2:35 PM · edited Sun, 01 December 2024 at 4:33 AM

I purchased the Poser Photorealism Add-On by Ralaci and was taken to the My Purchases page for the download. The purchase did go through, but when I try to download I get "Error, No file was specified!" Any ideas?

Looks like you found a bug in the code that is migrating to a shopping cart system. Thanks! Should be all better now. Try again and let me know if you have any problems.

It looks to be downloading okay now. I like the simplicity of this new download system. Thanks for the help.

No problem. Just let us know if you have any more problems. Thanks!

I am having the same problem - No file specified - When I arrived here to contact the store, a reply was posted that the problem was fixed. It still isn't working for me.

Are you trying the download from your Store Account screen? (follow the link, don't worry, only you can see that screen)

nugpot ( ) posted Tue, 19 December 2000 at 12:22 PM

Still not working. I am attempting to download from the My Purchases screen. When I tried to download the first time, my purchase name was highlighted but when I clicked download I got the Error No file was specified message. Now the purchase name is not highlighted. If I click to select it, It opens that page in the store. If I click download, It now displays a netzip screen for a few seconds, then redirects and then the error message again. If I try to use the link supplied, It says netscape can't locate renderosity at all.

rcook ( ) posted Tue, 19 December 2000 at 12:37 PM

I don't understand what you mean by "the purchase name is not highlighted". And what is "netzip"? There is no link to download the file, you use the "Download" button. When you click the "Download" button, the file is sent as a binary stream to your browser. Your browser should prompt you to save it. There have been some problems with older browsers and with some Mac browsers. If you continue to have problems, we can email the file to you.

I HAVE been clicking on Download. As soon as my purchase was approved, a message appeared near the bottom of the page telling me to download from my account page. I clicked the link and wound up at a page called "nugpot's Past Purchases". When I click download, my netzip Smart Download window appears (Netzip is a program for zipping and unzipping files as well as a target for receiving zipped files.) It waits for about 15 secs. then says redirecting and 15 secs later a message appears "Error, No file was specified" You provided a link in your first reply but it doesn't work.

rcook ( ) posted Tue, 19 December 2000 at 2:30 PM

Yep I see why it didn't work, spelled "renderosity" wrong. Other than that misspelling, it should take you to your Account screen. I don't like the sound of the "redirecting" your netzip does. Redirecting where? If you can, trying disabling your netzip and hit the Download button. Like I said, worst case, we'll email your purchase to you. Just let us know.

nugpot ( ) posted Tue, 19 December 2000 at 2:31 PM

I just tried again and noticed that when netzip is trying to download the file, the url ends with "securedownload.ez" but there is no file name specified after that, which is what the error message has been telling me all along. The download link seems to be missing the name of the file to download. By the way,the link you provided me in your first response didn't work because you misspelled renderosity. When I fixed it, it took me to my Past Purchases page which is where I've been working all along

rcook ( ) posted Tue, 19 December 2000 at 2:37 PM

The web page that sends you the file is called "securedownload.ez". The button takes you there via a web form. There is no "file name" to specify on the url. The item you are downloading is sent as a hidden form variable. The file you are downloading is not stored within the web directories visible to your browser. That is why we stream it directly to your browser. This is done for security reasons. The store files are impossible to get to from a web browser, without going through the system.
