Subject: Why is Bryce called Bryce?

Anyone know the genesis of the name Bryce? I know why Wings3D is called this because its based on 'winged edged technology'. But why is Bryce called Bryce? Wasn't the lead programmer Kai Krause? Did he have a cat called Bryce or something like that?

I think it's named that because of Bryce Canyon......

i didn't know that about wings actually... but bryce -afaik anyway- is called bryce because of the bryce canyons, or bryce national park or something. a 'bryce' is something classical to the terrain generator, a grand canyon sort of thing. i think. drac (english is my second language) ((despite the fact that i know it better than my own)) (((except names for trees, flowers, and other stuff like that)))

...or for anyone who saw the TV movie "Max Headroom", there was a geeky teenager in that called Bryce Lynch who was developing a 3D animation package for a TV station. Being in the UK and knowing nothing about Bryce Canyon, I used to like to think it might've been named after him, until I found out differently. Good movie though, if a bit short. It was a pilot for a music program presented by a virtual host, if I remember rightly.

definitely from Bryce Canyon National Park in Utah... some of the most unique and intriguing landscapes on the planet... as Bryce was originally developed as a landscape generator...

If you ever get the chance so see Bryce Canyon in person you will KNOW instantly that it was the inspiration for the name. AND, you'll be amazed at how much it looks like it was done by a Bryce master at the top of his game. :)

I'm not sure I'd like to be anywhere near a tiger, much less try to hit a fly with it.
