Subject: Jeep Wrangler or CJ7 Model Anywhere?

EdW ( ) posted Wed, 15 December 2004 at 7:43 AM ยท edited Sat, 01 February 2025 at 7:39 AM

I've been looking for a model of a Jeep Wrangler or CJ7 in either 3ds or obj format. I can even use lwo format. I want to be able to use it in Poser and Vue I found one at 3dcafe, but it's in max format, that looks like a pretty decent model. The others there seem to have some serious problems with the meshes and are the military version. I think it would take me longer to fix them than to model my own. There's a couple at turbo squid, but there's no way I'll pay those prices. I don't mind paying for one, but not at those prices. I guess if all else fails, I'll just model one myself. Just didn't want to have to slow my animation work down to build another model. Thanks Ed

If you need better ones, look throught this archive (link) they have a couple of WWII jeeps, a jeep wrangler and Tomb raider looking one, they're all in .lwo format, but they can still be importd into poser. And they're free.

Ask me a question, and I'll give you an answer.

I remember a couple of years back wanting to make up a Poser mesh version of my slightly customized 1991 Jeep Wrangler (Sahara Edition.) However, since Daimler-Chrysler can be very aggressive about their trademarks, I had written the company asking them about it. They were pretty adamant about my not doing the FreeStuff thing with it, have pretty hefty requirements on exactly what kind of text you have to insert into any description of it (mostly trademark notices) and they wanted a cut of the sales. /P

That is a crappy attitude of daimler-chrysler almost as bad as dsy, I dont want to write that companies whole name in case they try to sue me. I hope this message isnt against the TOS?

I used to feel the same way, but it is their trademark and right to keep. I figure it's easier to just design something different and better, and let them hold their trademarks as close to their chest as they want to. I still own the Jeep, but I do so figuring that the Jeep/Off-Road culture itself will eventually transcend the brand owners. /P

thanks.. I found a couple that look like I can make them work with just a bit of fixing up. It's too bad they're such a pita about a freebie, but that's just the way of the world now days. Ed

How's this one? It's free in 3DS format, ready for import into Poser.
