Primivol is a new plugin for Carrara 3 and 4 and contains the following volumetric primitives: Fire, Cloud, Smog, Rising Smoke. Through these primitive, Primivol can also render any 3D shader as a volume, and can alter its shape with a set of modifiers and ramp-off functions. Lighting, self-shadow, density, color and many other parameters are accessible through the UI and can be precisely adjusted and animated. Some renders are displayed in the gallery and forum pages of inagoni website.

Hey Brian, Its just a little too much money to buy it without trying it out first. Nice cloud animation by the way. Mike

I just bought this and it seems really cool so far I did have one question how do you get them to animate like rising or billowing smoke. I can create the smoke but it doesn't move can you help? Can you post pics of how to set this up for animation? Thanks for the great plugin I hope to see you do something with the particle emitter soon. Thanks!!! Keep up the great work

I agree that the price is too high for me to buy this plug-in without at least trying a demo. But I also happen to think that most of Julien's plugins seem a bit too expensive for me. If I were to get Baker, Deeper, Replica and Primivol, I would spend $130, or about half the price of Carrara itself. For a hobbyist it's just a little steep - but I think a lot of us are hobbyists.

Maybe Julien can have a 'End-of-year' sale where we could buy all his plug-ins for a decreased cost? Say $100US even, or so... Just a thought...

Hi, I will work on a demo version soon. I just need to figure out what should be limited and what shouldn't. To animate the primitives, you can usually just animate the Z coordinate of the 3D shape: it will give the effect of a rising vapor. There should be some tutorial in the next 3DXtract. About the price, you can already buy Deeper, Baker, Primivol and Replica at a discount price. Each time a plugin is bought, you're elligible for a discount on all the other one. To get the greatest discount, buy the cheappest one first. For these 4 for example, it would be 15+29+29+39=112$ when buying Deeper first. I think a discount is more flexible than a bundle: every new plugin will benefit from this discount, and you can just buy the one you want or need.

Hey Julien, I wasn't really knocking the price with my previous comment. Your new pricing discount, I have bought Deeper and Replica in the past do I still qualify or is this only for future purchases. Mike

Hi Mike, The discount only works on plugin buy at the same moment. But if you're planning to buy Primivol, you might want to wait for the end of the week: there will be a new cheap plugin (about 10$) that can swap objects (as it was discussed in this forum: http://www.inagoni.com/forum_viewtopic.php?7.25 ). If you need such plugin, buying it will give you a discount on Primivol too. Julien

Thanks for the info Julien, the swap plugin sounds good too.

Agreed, the swap plugin sounds good. And Primivol looks excellent.
