Subject: I have a Newb question regarding facial expressions for Michael 3.0

Peacer ( ) posted Fri, 17 December 2004 at 1:40 PM · edited Thu, 23 January 2025 at 7:09 AM

Hi, I just bought Michael V3 Base, along with texture, hair, and morphs (as poses). Unfortunately, because I'm sort of a Newb, I really don't know how to use the morphs, and therefore I can't get Michael to show emotion. I also downloaded some free Michael facial expressions, but everytime I click on an expression to use it, it won't work... so I know it's got something to do with morphs. So basically I'm wondering how to use Michael's morphs to get him to show facial expressions, and animate them for talking, etc.? Thanks

The poses that are labled "INJ" are injection poses. They add the required morph to the figure. What you do is click on that and then a new morph dial will appear (for head morphs, select Michael's head). Adjust the dial to get the expression the way you want it. Poses labelled "REM" are to remove the morph.

Hmmm... I'm thinking I may have some sort of weird bug or installation problem then. I installed to the folder where it belongs, so when I go to the Poses folder, there are a bunch of folders such as !M3 Features, !M3 Expressions INJ, etc. Yeah, it seems good so far... HOWEVER, when I bring up Poser, I click on Poses, but the Michael categories are all messed up. Every single category contains exactly the same list, which shows: ! All Head Morphs, ! M3 Natural Hi P4, etc; and there's no scroll bar or anything, it almost seems like a bug. Upon clicking on any of those, I receive the error: WARNING: CANNOT OPEN RUNTIMELIBRARIESPOSE (insert pose here). I've tried reinstalling it, but it always shows up like this. Is this a problem, and if so, anyone know how to fix it?

Which version of Poser are you using? Poser 5 will do that if you try to open an empty runtime with no subdirectories in it...

I'm using Poser 4...

PROBLEM SOLVED! Wow, it was odd, but here's the deal: DON'T PUT EXCLAIMATION POINTS IN FRONT OF YOUR FOLDERS! That's right, the problem was with a simple punctuation character that Poser had a problem with. By deleting the "!" in front of every folder, the problem got solved. But thanks for replying anyway.

ok. That's somewthing I didn't know, then. Poser 5 accepts the exclamation points with no problem. That's something daz came up with to put their folders at the top of the Poses library, but it kind of loses its effect when all their poses have that...

Some packages may have problems if you change the name of the DAZ version 3 folders in your Pose Library. That's because the products refer directly to your Pose files, rather than to the files found in the !DAZ Libraries.
