these things are EASILY fixed...what i REALLY need to know is: assuming the hair model were perfect.... would you be willing to wait 10-20 minutes for it to render? the future of this project hinges on that question... it poses and animates beautifully...

Y'all have a great day.

almost any hairstyle is possable...flat/puffy.. streught/curly...buzzcut/thigh legnth can be done all fully poseable...of course the longer it gets the bigger the filesize{almost 3mb here) seems funny but filesize seems to have little effect on render time this only took maybe 5 min longer to render than the short hair i was doing... speak up i need some encouragement here... :O)

Y'all have a great day.

It looks great, and imvho is definitely worth the wait. But I put quality as #1 always and I'm just feeling my way through Poser and others right now so take it for what it's worth g

Looks pretty good! I don't know about 10 or 20 minutes to render though- The Hollywood hair and the new hair for Supermodel Vickie only take a minute or so to render in Poser, but they seem to take forever to render in Bryce, I would guess 20 minutes in Poser = 10 hours in Bryce? I sort of like rendering in Bryce, but I think the rendering engine doesn't like trans-mapped hair very much! But maybe you have a slow computer? Ha!

Chailynne ( ) posted Thu, 21 December 2000 at 12:22 PM

I think it looks wonderful and sounds great. I'd pick quality over speed also, so keep going. :o)

Keep up your development on it, we have needed a good hair like this for a long time :) The fact it is posable, and can be very long is what is most appealing to me!

joeyb ( ) posted Thu, 21 December 2000 at 4:58 PM

I really like it. I'm about ready to start a project with long hair, and I've been dreading the work involved to build quality hair. Once you get this going, will you be writing a tutorial on how to get those results?

JAFO ( ) posted Thu, 21 December 2000 at 5:11 PM

is it just me, or has anyone else noticed that the neck on these characters is about twice as long as it should be and the head is scaled at least 30% larger than most humans?

Y'all have a great day.

movida ( ) posted Thu, 21 December 2000 at 5:25 PM

I just thought I'd stared at my monitor too long, been up too early (or late as the case may be) or all of the above. The rendering of flexed joints is what gets me. How photorealistic can the final be if you have to do 2 days of post mortem (render) work? As I said, very new here g

Love that hair. Is this an object for sale? As for render speed - have any of you considered upgrading your memory and clockspeed? My old computer was in the 300's of Mhz I think, and 32 mb RAM. Needless to say, rendering took forever. My new computer is 950mhz and 128 ram. It's SWEET... no more waiting aeons.

Jim Burton ( ) posted Fri, 22 December 2000 at 8:47 AM

Well, I've got a PIII running at 525 Mhz, with 256 Mb ram, so my render comments are based on that. My next computer will have a AMD running at 1100 or so, with twice as much ram, but I'm only expecting to half the render times, some of the renders I did for Super Model Vickie ran all night (in Bryce), even though she renders in Poser in less than a minute.

This is fantastic hair, and what I also have been waiting for a long time. Quality over speed anytime. For those of us rendering scenes of a "fantasy" or "mediaeval" nature, it is very hard to find any kind of hair that will "fit". (Hence all the renders with the Zygote long conform curls.) It is SO encouraging to see one of our talented "perruquiers" (wigmakers, LOL) working on a project that will work so well with the kind of pictures I dream of making.

Get the AMD. I have an AMD Athlon Thunderbird, it's sweet. While I'm only running 950mhz and 128, and my roomie is running 1g and 256, I barely notice the difference in speed.
