Subject: I need some good SETS for Poser4!

Peacer ( ) posted Thu, 16 December 2004 at 4:39 PM · edited Sun, 02 February 2025 at 4:09 PM

Hey guys, I've got to go to work so I'm going to make this quick: I need some good 3D sets for P4! To make a long story short, I'm making a short 3D film based off of the video game called Silent Hill. For those of you not familiar with it, it takes place in a dank, empty Middle-Western American town (modern day). So basically I'm going to need some good sets of a town (not skyscrapers like New York, but just your average Middle-Western town with shops, houses, two lane streets, etc.), perhaps a hospital (int & ext), maybe a school (also int & ext), and whatever else I can get my hands on. If I have to pay for them, I will as long as they're good and not TOO expensive. If anyone could help me out, and maybe point me to a place with a ton of virtual sets I can choose from, that'd be great! I'll take care of the textures, I just need the models. Thanks a bunch for any replies.

Andi3d has several sets in his "cityscapes" series, check out his stuff in the marketplace. Also Poserworld (subscription site) has a lot of items that might fit what you're looking for.

Hi Peacer I have a Back alley set at Daz that may suit the 'Silent hill' style. I'm also working on another urban environment due for release in the new year..most of the textures and some of the modelling has changed since these shots we're done but you get the drift. Cheers Stefan

I haven't seen very many sets suitable for a small town "Silent Hill" type thing. Most Poser artists seem more interested in fantasy, and when they do make "real world" sets, they tend to be urban cityscapes or retro/historical.

Link is to some screen shots from "Silent Hill." If there are such sets out there for Poser, I'd be interested in finding them, too. That's the kind of place I grew up. No, not the creepy part! That "downtown of a small town" type of place.

P.S. The interior sets will probably be easier to find than the exterior. Check out Ziggie's free stuff (the above link). He's done some remarkable models of hospital furniture. And they're free!

STONEMASON! You are my hero... I already have the back alley set. Ever think of doing some interiors to complement those sets... like a grungy apartment. Something even Peter Parker would think was a dump?

Wow, all that stuff is absolutely great! Seriously all you guys have been a HUGE help!! Thanks a bunch! To Randym, the attached link goes to the screenshot section of the PS2 game "Silent Hill 2". You can get a rough guess of how the town looks in those screenies (hard to tell because of all the fog, though). But there's tons of pages of screenshots so there's a bunch to browse through there. To anyone else, if you have any links or anything of any sort that would help me, I will forever praise you with gratitude (yes i know it's not much, but hey)!

LoL, sorry Randym, I misread your post. Upon re-reading it, I found that you provided a link, not you WANTED a link. So ignore my link... sorry!

Hey Stefan, when do you plan on releasing that urban environment? That looks simply PERFECT for the look I'm going for! Do you think... perhaps... you could sell me an early copy? Maybe? Huh? Huh? Well if not that's fine, but it doesn't hurt to beg, either!

stonemason ( ) posted Thu, 16 December 2004 at 10:56 PM

Peacer...sure :)I'll hook you up a free copy next week sometime.. I dont plan on submitting this till after xmas so it will be a very early copy that you get. Berserga...one day maybe..I quite like the bathroom scene in the Silent hill screenshots posted above & that would be possibly be the look & feel I'd be going for in any interiors...very grungy..right up my alley :) Peacer..I'll be in touch Cheers Stefan

Stefan, I owe you BIG! That urban environment is just too perfect for what I'm looking for. That will work for Poser 4, correct? If so, then yes, definately hook me up. My email is: n_greenpeace@hotmail.com Thanks man.

stonemason ( ) posted Thu, 16 December 2004 at 11:06 PM

yep..in fact it will propably be one version fits all as there is no bump maps used at all..the textures are all 'game' size,63 of them in total.. & polycount is around 40k,so it shouldn't be a system drainer when animating

mason excellent as usual :) peacer you might want to check out poserworld for filler props .. we have a bunch of modern stuff including a roofscene that might be of use. (subscription site though) For hospital interior stuff look for Ziggie's free models. Lyrra

I always say that if you want to find the kindest, most generous folks online, look no further than our Poser forum! Everyone here is so generous and helpful it's scarey at times. Now, if we could only get the REST of the world to catch on to this idea....

Peacer, if you haven't downloaded today's freebie from DAZ, check it out. Just what you need for the interior of a school. :-)
