Subject: Expression morphs lost with Transposer

JetM ( ) posted Sun, 19 December 2004 at 11:57 AM · edited Fri, 08 November 2024 at 3:50 PM

Just bought C4 and couldn't wait to bring in my Poser scene and do some real lighting! Just one problem. The scene came in with no expressions. I thought the pz3 scene might be a bit big and intense. So took some stuff out and just saved the three characters (each with hair characters and some clothese characters) but still no go. Then I brought in a single character scene and that one came in with expressions just fine. I've got a 3.2 P4 processor and 1 GB of ram. At least 20 GB space on my hard drive. Is memory the problem here? Or is the poser file just too damn big? Any help is appreciated.

Have you tried importing each character, one at a time into the scene in C4? You will need to save a separate pz3 file for each character and import it separately,

I can certainly try that. Question, will they import into the zero position or will they remember their positions from the Poser file? BTW, I'll probably try this out later today so if no one responds, I guess I'll find out. But it takes like an hour for a Poser scene to import on my machine so it'd be nice to know ahead of time. Thanks!

It seems to import at the zero point in C4, but should be easy enough to move. Here's one I just imported using 3 separate pz3 files (duplicated them each several times and moved) Slug Test

Hi JetM, I've just let Eovia know of this. All Poser characters keep their expressions as expected. It's just that the DAZ characters, when imported with other figures, that don't. I know the product description only guarantees 100% when working with Poser content exclusivly, not second party providers. I have to think this ability will be added in the next update. While I've used DAZ characters imported individually with great results, I've never imported a collection of them to see this happen until today. Mark

Interesting. Thanks, Mark! That's good to know. I hope they do get a chance to fix that. Much appreciation to you both for answering

Well JetM, we've got some interesting stuff then. I've spoken with a couple of folks that have tried but can't reproduce this. So, I'm just going to info gather. Were you using DAZ injected morphs or the Poser morphs? It's not a Mac/PC thing judging from your system description. Thanks! Mark

JetM, Here is what was causing my initial issue. Open scene in Poser>convert Don to DAZ character>Morphs for Don are still available so I use them on the DAZ character>Save and close file. Reopen file and morphs are gone because they don't match DAZ geometry - instead a very long list of morphs that don't work replace them. Are your morphs still there when you reopen your Poser file? Just trying to figure it out.

Sorry for the late response. Haven't gotten a chance to get back to Carrera until today. All three figures were DAZ with injection morphs. M3, D3 and S3 specifically. Funny enough, it seemed to keep the character morphs, just not the expression morphs. For instance, her round face stayed, but her open mouth didn't. Morphs are just fine in the Poser file. Doesn't seem to make a difference if I maintain the link to the pz3 or not. Do you suppose if I saved their expressions as morphs themselves, then removed all the injection, you think it'd work? I'll give it a try, but it'll take me most of the day since it literally takes 3-4 hours to open a Poser file in Carrera. Yes, my Poser files are that detailed. sigh that's what I get for wanting the cool lighting. But the Anything Glows alone...!
