Sorry about my last post, did not mean to offend anyone. I am just curious about what paople think about what I've done so far. Any comments are appreciated! Thanks!

We have far too many of this kind of image. I don't want to see another Victoria 3 in the nude in my lifetime. Images like this are what prevent me from ever considering to buy Victoria 3. I'm sorry if this seems hurtful, but I'm sick and tired of seeing people posting scenes from their sex-obsessed imaginations. This kind of thing has to stop.

If you are:

  • interested in what people think,
  • would like to show your picture and
  • appreciate comments...

Why don't you post your picture to the gallery, but instead to the forum?

Oh, I just saw you did post your image to the galleries also! Why post it here then?

BTW, that image looks as if it was stretched wider than it should be. Why is that?

BTW II:
For being a member here for just one day and describing yourself at being 'new' to Poser, you have a remarkable textures-, characters- and environments collection from this store. I'm impressed. It's just a pity that you don't also credit the characters in your gallery. Even if that's optional, it's always nice to look at - it would show that you honour what others have created for you.

Hmmm. Compression damage? Trying to work out what's up with the distortion.... As for the image... Naked chicks in non-reflective water. Nothing much to say about that. shrug Normally, I don't do critiques unless asked, but you did ask... ;) bonni

My critique is this; same old, same old.
That's why people get upset.
I've been learning poser for a little while now and haven't posted a thing here, I just don't feel I'm good enough yet, but if I jumped the gun and just posted a picture like this of all my guy friends with everything hanging out and sporting, I bet you it wouldn't even last a day.
This is probably a nice personal image for whatever reason for yourself, but why is it people can't wait to share their naked friends here with everybody online?
I would be real embarassed and very angry to find a guy had posted me naked here like this on the open net if I was his girlfriend.

Don't worry, crimsondragonnyc. Keep creating and keep posting. I'm sure you're simply excited with your new toy. But the usual convention is to hang out in a forum for a while, get a feel for the place and how things are done. If you check out all the drop down menus you'll see a vast array of different forums here. This is the main Poser forum, and not really the place for posting one's day to day renders.

Not so long ago, a simple faux pas like this would have been greeted with a few sympathetic 'tut tuts' and a bit of guidance. These days .. who knows? Hopefully there won't be many more posts in this thread, and you'll be left to blush in discrete quiet.

Oh. Where are my manners? Welcome to Poser. Have fun and never be afraid to learn. mooch

The image looks distorted, like it's been stretched horizontally. And the boobs appear to be defying gravity, as if they are wearing invisible bras. Particularly the woman on the right. She's leaning over, but her boobs are pointing up. Try the "breast natural" morph when your characters aren't wearing bras.

"I'm sorry if this seems hurtful, but I'm sick and tired of seeing people posting scenes from their sex-obsessed imaginations. This kind of thing has to stop." Yes, let's put an end to it. While we're at it, we can put an end to all these cliche Poser themes as well: 1) Close-up portrait renders of V3's face. That has to stop! 2) Fantasy renders of buxom "women warriors" and Conan-like heros (ala Boris and Frazetta paintings). That sort of thing has to stop! 3) There's also way too many FAE (or faery) renders in the galleries. That's gotta stop! 4) There's too many renders of Poser figures with swords and guns. That's gotta stop! 5) Renders of V3/V2 in a skin-tight sci-fi bodysuit! That's gotta stop! 6) Vicki in a temple of any kind (even fully clothed)... must be stopped! 7) Renders of Vicki in a bathing suit. Too many of those. 8) All renders of Vicki with boobs larger than a C-cup! Those must be stopped! 9) All renders of Vicki wearing any of Koz's awesome hair props. There must be over 20,000 of those, and it must be stopped! 10) Renders of Vicki in any kind of sensual or suggestive pose. These must be stopped! Uhm, well... not really. But you see where this kind of thinking leads? ;-)

crimsondragonnyc; Welcome to the obsession! And kiss your credit card balance goodbye. And don't sweat it. There isn't -one- of the forum denizens who haven't tripped over someone's ego or stubbed their toe on the amorphous, unwritten 'rules'. And not neccesarily when they were a newbie, either.... As for critiquing the image (which looks like it was stretched from its native format for use as a Windows background...right?), if you use P5, then do a search in this forum on water shaders. There have been several threads on how to create realistic looking water with the P5 shaders. If it's postwork....then you need to speak with someone who knows how to make whatever graphics program you use dance. Are there composition problems? Yes. Next time you hit a bookstore, take a walk to the section on photography and look for books on 'how to' set up shoots, lighting, posing, where to arrange what according to size, etc. CG isn't photography, but uses many of the same rules and disciplines. As for the rest.... Just keep in mind that all of the nay says are opinions, nothing more (just like a certain excretory orifice; everyone has one). -You- are the one sitting at the creation controls of your image, no one else. And unless you are doing it on commission, you =have= to please no one else save yourself (well, you have to be able to pass legal muster, but after that....). There are a lot of good people here to learn from, who enjoy sharing their knowledge. There is also a lot of forum static, and at times a positively sadistic delight in roasting an newbie for the sheer fun of it. Also keep in mind that this is the holidays, and a lot of people are just out and out grouchy from issues outside the fora. Oh. If you place swords in their hands, =THEN= you will have finally created that bastion of Poser, NVIATWAS!!!! Or: Naked Vicky In A Temple With A Sword, which has been a long standing tradition for the software. Like the Bryce 'Reflective Sphere Floating Over Water' image that Bryce newbie has done. So hit the freebies, get some steel, arm those babes, re-render, and post it to the gallery with a title like 'The Tradition Lives!' or something equally humorous....or mindbending, depending.

I have only posted a few images on here and none of them have been nudes, I kind of like the Family image but it doesn't mean I don't like looking at nude images as long as they are done in good taste. I'm not crazy about some of the nude violence images I see on here but hey, I didn't make the images. I can't critique you because I'm not that great with Poser, I have a hard time with facial expressions. Keep posting but next time just post the link of your image in here and not the image itself. Oh and maxxxmodelz is right, you might as well stop posting those strong female warrior images because that's really not reality, even though I like seeing some of them.

Preach it, Brother Maxxx!!!!! Purity! Cleanliness! Nothing in the galleries at all, halleuhjah!!! Our bandwidth costs have shrunk enough to pad the payroll -again-!!! Oh, wait....we don' pay these drones.... =WE= keeps the money, Precious, yesssssss.... Why am I suddenly feeling the urge to create an image of lots of naked vicky's in temples with swords.....(remembering that delightful NVIATWAS...with Vicky crouched on a pedestal screaming her head off over the cute widdle house mouse that had her cornered).

Puntomaus ( ) posted Tue, 21 December 2004 at 6:50 AM

This is the Poser forum and posting a Poser image should be appropriate for this place, others do it as well. So, where is the problem with this guy posting his image here? It has the nudity tag so why someone looks at it and then complains about the nudity is really hard to understand. Anyway, crimsondragonnyc - keep on learning and posting and btw, you do not have to give credit for things you have bought. Paying for the item was credit enough ;-)

The one thing that I DO find unbelievable about the pic is... the colour of the water. 3 people in a pool... and one of 'em hasn't peed yet...! Come on...! When I was 7 years of age... I got sent home from school for peeing in the school swimming pool. Mind you... I did do it from the top of the 3 metre diving flatform. Happy Holiday and Welcome to the Whacky World of Rosity.

Crimson, nudes are a nice place to start when you begin working in poser as you can learn a lot about composition, coloring, and lighting with skin. Here are my suggestions: 1. Render into a TIFF format and then do your edits in Photoshop or some other paint program using the save for web function. This will prevent the distortion in your image. 2. If you're using Poser 5, try the tutorial in the attached link to make the skin look more alive. There is also the real skin shader in the marketplace. 3. Look around and see if there is any freebie clothes that you like. Seemless textures and shaders can radically alter any clothing you might have to make it more appealing for your needs. 4. When you start a project, ask yourself whether it looks like other work you have done and whether you are falling into a trend. You can look at my gallery and see the periods in which I've fallen into a rut. 5. Lastly, nudity can be a touchy topic as there is an abundance of it in the galleries. I suggest you ask yourself whether it has a context in your image. Keep rendering. When I first started poser I would post WIPs in the poser forum and get critical responses. It can help you think outside the box and define your technique.

Hi crimsondragonnyc, Welcome to the poser world. Please don't be discouraged by a few highly opinionated members. You haven't violated any TOS. As a first image, you've done better than most of us. When I look back at my first post, I feel embarrassed :o/. Sit back, check out dr. Geep's tutorials, check out stewers P5 shaders tuts, schlabber's posing tuts. Remember to have fun. You can render as many cliche images as you want.

I think this person is pulling your chain folks.
What have we got here?
Vicky? x 3, Hair x 3, in Std Poses, in a Std Pool Set with Standard lighting.
We are talking a dozen or so clicks, after spending??? lots of money.
All this says to me is that someone has a big fat wallet and wants accolades for spending it. These ladies look like clip art, I've seen them all before. It says to me "look at me, I've put 3 bits of other people art together, how clever am I?"
If this is your Art then keep it in your gallery, it's a waste the forum space.

If I'm wrong, Welcome, you have lots to learn about Poser, get on with it and have fun.

Merry Christmas from Vicky Claus and Kitty-with a big bag of coal for all of the egoistic esthetes who allow their sense of offended "artistic sensibility" to transcend even common civility. If that is what being an artist means, thank goodness, I'll never be one. Hopefully this will be crude and nude enough to curdle their eggnog. Cheers and God Bless Us Every One.
