Yes, that link does look like the way to do it.

Beats my idea of ordering 500 live tree frogs from a biological supply company -- and then releasing them inside of your house.

Heh, I've used the hose attachment on the vacuum cleaner and hoovered the whole cloud away. Good for hand/eye coordination :P Beware when people give plants as gifts... my grandmother gave me an african violet once that produced a rather large cloud of gnats... bleagh.

dunno if any good for gnats.. but great for wasps.. hairspray or spray varnish. spray a cloud round 'em.... the wings, legs, infact everything gums up and they are grounded...

okay...this might work...my bird had "mush moths"...they are carried in seed/nut or the baby bird dried hand feeding "mush". the eggs are ingested, and basically when your bird craps, little moths can fly out....LOTS OF THEM. what works for them is putting out glasses of red wine in the area. they go for that in a big way. it could work for gnats, right? i'm not sure what they eat, but wine drowns the moths....worth a shot.

fly paper and a fly swatter works really well. And if its cold out where you live, I mean really cold now, you can open all of the windows and go out shopping or something for about three or four hours, time you get back they should be frozen to death.

you guys are all really cool with your ideas, i really appreciate the help! Yes hairspray does work on bees and wasps! Freezes those little suckers in midair...serves 'em right too! My husband gave me the plant as a joke gift...this is all his fault!

Beats my idea of ordering 500 live tree frogs from a biological supply company -- and then releasing them inside of your house. LOL!!! At the moment, we've got a problem with weevil moths (the kind the grow in some wheat product and then proceed to take over your house). We've found that spritzing them with orange oil cleaning spay kills them pretty quickly. Dunno if it'll work with gnats, but I thought I'd mention it. I agree on the fly paper, by the way. It's not very pretty but it definitely gets the job done. Hang it where there are lots of the nasty flying things. Works a treat. Good luck with your gnat problem. bonni

I love the tree frog idea. Get the tiny bright blue and yellow ones, they can double as Xmas decorations. They're also deadly poisonous - a perfect gift for those pesky relations you don't want to see next year.

Upon further consideration, this idea would only work for someone without any dogs or cats in the house.

That is, so long as you like your dog or your cat.

Also, there is an additional danger if you are the type of individual that sleeps with your mouth open, or that snores loudly.

Of course, one has to balance out the risks involved. The "sleeping with mouth open" problem is also affected by the presence of 100's of flying gnats, too. It might even be a problem if one's mouth is tightly closed........one must breath, somehow......

A little late, but I know what accidentally worked for me. Fly strips.... LoL We caught a TON of them.
