Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 07 11:07 am)
Ha! Solved my own problem! The horse has non-zero Initial Values for several parameters- even a horse saved with the joints zeroed. Weird, right? Set the xrot and yTran values to zero, now the harness conforms properly. :) What I still don't know is why the problem hasn't shown up before, because I've worked the same way before and everything /seems/ to have been okay, although the hip did sometimes displace- an sometimes not. Well, I know how to fix things now. I'll leave the thread up in case someone else ever has the same problem. :)
Yes. You got it. A conforming cr2 must not have a memorized state other than zero. If the cr2 is memorized in a pose it will not conform properly. Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays, Anton

That non-zeroed values thingy is what gave me trouble when I first attempted to create conformers. It was months before I finally figured out what was wrong. I completely delete the arm and leg IK from the donor CR2, myself. It doesn't appear to be needed for conforming items, and only causes problems when enabled.

Technical question here- I'm not shy of editing cr2 files by hand, but I don't know all the little details.
I'm making a conforming harness item for the Poser horse. I've made them before without this problem, but this time I can't see what I've done wrong. It happens in both Poser 5 and Poser 4. I've go the latest service release for P5, and I'm working on XP SP2.
I've used the horse cr2 as a base, zeroed with IK off (and I've double-checked it was zeroed to make sure as well!). Load up the horse figure (either default or zeroed, it makes no difference). Load up the harness, it loads all nicely zeroed. Conform the harness, and it jumps into a pose that's the horse's unzeroed state (in addition to any pose the horse is in).
In the course of investigating, I tried loading two (zeroed) copies of the horse and conforming one to the other. The conformed horse had the same problem as the conformed harness. So just what is going on here, why is this the first time I've had the problem, and how do I fix it so the harness conforms properly??
I know it's Christmas... I was hoping to be able to post the thing as a freebie for Christmas. It works fine if you manually zero the harness in Joint Editor after conforming it, but it's not /right/.
Any ideas, anyone, please?
