Geez, haven't seen one of these since ... no, I won't tell you. :-) Instead of messing with push buttons, I think you should do the groovy thing on the turning knobs. And seven hours ... seems to me you're much faster modeller than I am.

I remember these well. Nothing like the sound of pops, clicks and skipping to enhance the enjoyment of music. :^) You could always keep it from skipping by taping a penny on top of the needle housing, though. :^) That's some great modeling! Which modeling program?

Looks good... One of these would be neat to have. Think of all the old records from way back that can't be found on CD. The kind of music and stuff that may have had copyrights expired, or is just too odd to be released again. ('specially those ol' 73 speed records) Just plug this baby into the audio-in on a 'puter and start burnin' away. I haven't seen one of these things working since the mid to late 1980's. Since then it's all tapes (now going the way of the record), CDs, and MP3s.

I used to love my old 78's. OK I'm not that old. But I did have a selection of 45's. I thought it was magic how you could have one disk playing and balance another on the spike thing and it would automatically drop and play it. Maverlous! 78's, 33's, 45's 8-track, VHS all going. But I'm not like tjohn who that think the cracks and pops were part of it. I'm sure the Beatles would have loved CD's. And DVD's are the best thing since the wheel. SO I say to new technology, Bring it on!

I still love and use my old Dual 502 turntable. Got so many albums that just don't exist on CD. Have kept them in very good shape (tracking weight has never exceeded 1 gram). Don't get me wrong, I love CD and DVD but the albums just don't exist yet in those media.

Great looking turntable. I used to have the Phillips one where you had buttons that were like a ring of light. You did not have to push down, only to touch it. This looks like a Rhino job.

I still have a Techniques (something or other), and about 600 albumns (used record stores rock..;). Just need a needle..the one on there's about 25 years old..;) ah, the nostaligic days of vinyl, who remem pop, who remempop, who remempop..;)

Awesome model, Kemal... Very precise and clean! I think it's odd that people refer so much to the past when thinking about turntables... I live by Seattle, and people use turntables all the time around here to make "music" for their techno parties. Scratching, mixing, stuff like that...

I still also have a Techniques turntable with diamond stylus that hasnt been used in well over a decade and a half and plenty of LPs (33s). SoundForge is the way to go. I was able to take my dads old 78s and convert them without the crackle and pop using that. Beautiful model but it could use a bit of poly trimming. 42MB is just hair too big.

fine modeling job I use an Technics sld2 model of tuntable. works good still,bought back in 1977-78.

Phil: I'm not sure you caught my drift. :^) I started phasing out my vinyl the second I heard my first CD. Currently I have about 60-75% of my CD collection on a Creative Nomad Jukebox Zen Xtra (40 gigs) portable player (compare to I-Pod) I got for about $250 U.S. So far I've got 2982 of my favorite songs loaded on it (including every single song the Beatles ever officially released, even the 3 Anthologies and the new stereo Capitol reissues of the first 4 US albums on CD), and 21 gigs are still free. So I definitely love new technology. I'll eventually be carrying my entire CD collection with me to work or anywhere in my pocket! I set up a playlist on it with everything playing back at random. It's like having a radio station that plays all your favorite songs with no ads and no DJs. Oh, Yeah!! Life is good! :^) John

Oh, and by the way, I bought all the CDs. No illegal downloads. I've got the CD's to prove it, LOL.

This is a very nice crystal clear, un-textured shaded render. Any chance you could show a wiremesh of this baby? Would like to see where most of the polys go.

In all seriousness - We have a shop over here in town that specialises in finding CD versions of 'ancient' LPs. for example, I've got 'Genesis - Trespass' copyright 1970 on cd now, on what's called a 'Definitive Edition Remaster', and it's perfect, if not better than the original! I'm working to get all my LPs on CD. Then of course I copy them - convert to mp3 - onto my pc.
