Welcome to the Poser Technical Forum.
Where computer nerds can Pull out their slide rules and not get laughed at. Pocket protectors are not required. ;-)
This is the place you come to ask questions and share new ideas about using the internal file structure of Poser to push the program past it's normal limits.
New users are encouraged to read the FAQ sections here and on the Poser forum before asking questions.
heyas; well... winzip can already save the directory info and make an exe out of a zip. but of course, it can't analyze poser files for interdependancies; that'd be cool! :) it should make a txt output of the file dependancies, so you (the zip-er) can include it in your readme file. you should also be able to choose which files you want to go in (so you don't package the default nude figure texture and stuff like that....) sounds cool :)
What I do is to put everything into a zipfile, with instructions to unzip everything into a particular geometry folder, and then to move the .CR2 and .RSR files into a character folder. (I always leave out the mesh .RSR files ro save space.)
And I don't trust executables. I have seen too much about viruses over too many years. If a model comes as an executable. I right click it and get Winzip to unpack it, if possible.

Hi all, I'm planning on making an Windows application that allowes you to package your Poser props, textures, etc.. into one file (setup.exe) just like Zygote's. I know that there are many programs like that out there, but I could not find a free one.. Also, I'm planning to make it analyze poser files to determine file dependencies. Just want to know what Poser users think about this? Do you think it is a good idea? Do you think you are going to use such application or stick to compressing Poser files with WinZip? It is going to be free! and will be posted in the Free Stuff. Thanks in advance.. del_ave
