"My Comfort Zone" I think all apps can easily participate in this. Marion

I like it!

Well can you imagine the conversation? There was I, intent on making an image for this challenge. I came up with this one, which I was going to call "I sit beside the fire and think". (LOTR fans will of course recognise the quote). However my other half said it should be called "toasted crumpet" As I went on with the image, working on the poser fig, I said I felt I needed a little more specularity. The reply from the other side of the room was "I prefer butter". I then said "hey hang on, it's you said I should render Vicky without a dress", and his reply to that was "no address, then how will she find her way home" OK this was the final result...pure Bryce except for the photo edge

Well, not too many entries so far, but that's now what this is about. I know it takes a little while... and with the Holidays on us, a lot of people running around through the malls (or trying to avoid them. ;) Anyway... here it is. This month I'm reaching into my pocket a little and giving back to the kind and inspired folks of this forum. Here is how it's going to work: Gift Certificates to the Renderosity Marketplace. 3rd place = $5 G. C. 2nd place = $10 G. C. 1st place = $15 G. C. I know it's not much, but this also covers me if there is a tie in there. ;) (as we so often have). So get in there, Fractal, Photo, Paint, Tattoo, Draw, sketch in the sand, or even Render your entries up.

Personally, I've found that whenever/wherever I'm feeling frazzled or down, a little milk and cookies goes a long way toward helping me find my 'comfort zone' again... :o) modelled and rendered in Carrara 4 Pro...

Here's my response to the challenge:

He's comforting her. But was it he who upset her in the first place?

kansas ( ) posted Sat, 25 December 2004 at 9:16 AM

WOW! Wonderful entries to this challenge. I'm impressed with each one. Marion

Actually, this is my cat's comfort zone. He doesn't understand that we can't carry him around all day!

RimRunner ( ) posted Sun, 26 December 2004 at 8:59 AM

Well, with the holidays and everything else going on (my thoughts and prays for those in or around Asia, family frinds, even strangers)... it's been a slow challenge. But, to keep things flowing into the new year... I'll be calling for Votes as of Tuesday Morning. SO you have until Monday night to finish those renders/photos/drawings/whatevers and get them posted. Good luck everyone!! Some great entries already. :)

My comfort zone these days, alas, is my bed, my favortie nightie, lots of pillows to tuck around me, and a little beastie to hug.

RimRunner ( ) posted Tue, 28 December 2004 at 7:22 AM

Voting is the standard format for in here. :) Please pick your top three images and then list them out from first pick to last (1,2,3). Since we don't have any double entries this time around you don't have to worry about looking for an image title. :) Just place your vote for the artist. Cheers, and good luck everyone :)

I loved this theme. I wish more people had joined in, but I enjoyed the entries very much. My choices (it was difficult): 1. tresamie 2. randym77 3. FWTempest Thank you all for the comforting thoughts! What a nice way to end the year. :)

  1. tresamie 2. FWTempest 3. randym77 I liked all the images. I didn't have enough time to enter either. Next time maybe. Happy New Year to all. Marion

My beasties are Larry (2 year old, Russian blue mix), Bella (3 year old, maybe a Papillion / cocker spaniel / Pomperanium /something something mix), Ethel (5 year old tuxedo cat), and Eloise (around 12 year old Lhasa Apso). All are part of my comfort zone. :)

chohole ( ) posted Wed, 29 December 2004 at 1:58 PM

I am glad I am not the only one mixes cats and dogs. I have 2 cats, plain old british tom moggies, both rescued. Tiggy, the tabby is around 13. WHen he was brought home he was adopted (at 5 weeks old) by my old collie bitch. He is sometimes a bit confused as to whether he is a dog or a cat, comes for walks with the dogs. Subsequently when we bought a pup Tiggy had a hand in bringing him up, and did the same with the young one. They are border terriers and 12 and almost 4 now. The younger cat is almost 10 and black and white. Spookily the youngest dog was bought to replace the old collie, who he never met. He has all her habits, both good and bad, and is completely different from the first terrier.

  1. FWTempest (3 points)
  2. dialyn (2 points)
  3. randym77 (1 point ) Thanks for another fun challenge!

Congrats to everyone; those who enter are already winners. But, for the count.. here we go: 4th place - with 1 point: Chohole 3rd place - with 7 points: Dialyn 2nd place - with 10 points: randym77 and tied for 1st place - with 12 points each: FWTempest Tresamie You should have all gotten e-mails just before this one. :) Enjoy. Although we have a tie for first, I'm going to ask FWTempest to choose the theme for the first challenge of 2005 (if that's ok with Tres), Eric's had fewer wins in 2004 then Tres. ;) Enjoy and Happy New year everyone !!

I somehow lost track of this thread. Didn't realize the voting was over until I got the gift certificate. Thank you! And congratulations to the winners, and all the entries. They were great. Looking forward to seeing what FWTempest chooses for the next theme...
