Subject: New copy of Poser 5, do I need a service release?

arcady ( ) posted Fri, 24 December 2004 at 4:42 PM · edited Thu, 14 November 2024 at 8:16 PM

Just got Poser 5 in the mail, and the about Poser window tells me I have version 5.0.4.332. Is this fully current or do I need a service release in there somewhere? :)

Truth has no value without backing by unfounded belief.

yes that is the lastest version so you don't need any service releases

Hi arcady,

I believe you have the latest and greatest.

I went to the CL website for you and checked.

The latest update d/l will update to 5.0.4.325 so yours should be current.

If you're not sure check the Curious Labs website and see.

Have a very Merry Christmas ...
(or whatever holiday you may celebrate)
.. and a prosperous and Happy New Year !!!

many Holiday cheers,

Can have both Poser 4 Pro and 5 installed or do I need to uninstall one before the other. Also, if I can install 5 with 4 Pro what do I do about sharing the libraries or do I need to install then separetly? Geesh, that would take up a lot of HD real estate...

You can have both in the "Curious Labs" folder.

One folder for P4 (or PPP)
and
one folder for P5.

Then just setup Poser 5 to "see" your P4 runtime folder.

That is where you got me. When I install 5 how do I tell it to "see" the P4 runtime folder? And better yet, what is the runtime folder? I do know what a folder is though. :-)

Both versions of poser don`t have to be in the same drawer ( or harddisk ).

For Macintosh the current release is .335 and the website did not have this as a download or update. I had to request physical media and install from it. (BTW the .335 release fixes the problem with applying deformers like magnets to materials)

Now I keep clicking in Poser 5 till I see the two folders and the red dot and then click add new runtime?
