My partner and I recently (after several months of research and procrastination)finally purchased our joint B/day present, an Olympus C-770 digital still Camera. The attached image is some flowers and our cat which my lady photographed and the Black shag is one which I took along the waterfront about 200 metres from our home. The 2nd pic of the shag I modified in Photoshop and the 1st one has only been cropped. BTW, the cats name is "Basil" he's a pedigree Chocolate Point Lynx Balinese.

Black shag, yea baby! But all I see is that funny looking bird?

that funny looking bird is a shag :p Love the cat Kiwi, reminds me of one we had years ago which i called Boofhead cause he looked like a boofhead when it was young. He had a big head when he was a kitten, fully grown he had a normal sized head but his tail messured 11" from the base to its tip.

I have opinions of my own -- strong opinions -- but I don't always agree with them.

Kiwi..what lens does it have? LOL at all... everyone here seems to be a cat person... where are the cute puppies and licky dogs?? I grew up with them..and yeah.. with a black cat that looked like one of those that would belong to a witch..(she was adorable)...

erosiaart;
Lens according to the manual is an "Olympus 6.3mm to 63mm,f2.8 to f3.7" equivalent to 38mm to 380mm on a 35mm camera.

CrazyDawg;
Measured "Basil's" tail after your comment,comes in at 292mm (11&1/2ins) from the base to the end of the boney bit,318mm (12&1/2ins) to the end of the fluff. He was named after the fox "Basil Brush" on that pommy TV program because of the size of his tail.

electroglyph - my cat looks EXACTLY like yours - except much dirtier lol. My daughter found him as a sick abandoned kitten, the wiring seems to be funny in his brain now - he cleans his front legs obsessively until he has the fur licked off in patches, doesn't care how dirty the rest of him is!! This was taken with my very old digital camera, which I miss very much, as you just had to point and click. My replacement camera has so many bells and whistles that I can't be bothered learning them all, just to take a blinkin' picture :^((

My camera has a brain. (good thing cause I don't!) I also have a dog named Spencer. He gets down on his belly and plays with the kittens. A camera's great for catching the critters in the act. It's also great for those Bryce photo textures. I'm hoping to do some things I saw years ago in the photo mags like taking waterfalls with a looooong exposure. Welcome to the world of the shutter enabled! You won't regret it.

@kiwi,....my God, that's a beautiful animal(the cat)! @electroglyph,....he's polydactyl,...and those are some big feet,.....sure hope he grows into them.
