Words alone cannot express how terrible this disaster was. Our deepest sympathies to all those that were affected. May help and relief reach the survivors soon. If anyone wishes to help, the Red Cross is accepting donations at www.redcross.org (There are probably others, this is just the one I happen to know of.) Deepest sympathies, LillianLillian Hawkins

I was just sitting here thinking how kind it would be if bondware would set up a relief fund where we could donate a portion of sales (merchants) and the members and staff could give if inclined or possible on behalf of Renderosity to the Red Cross. 200,000 x $5.00 (each) = $1 million.
Anyways, that's my take.

Thats a great idea Moe :) I have just heard that there are now 58,000 confirmed dead..and that the US has sent in 37. million in aid..would be an excellent idea for everyone to chip in and help..1 million extra would be fantastic :)

I hear ya MoeGoofie. I initially thought the same thing, too. But, after taking a look at the urgency of the situation, I think it would be far kinder for all of us to make our donations individually through the agencies that are set up to take immediate action. There are many agencies that are experienced in emergency relief and are set up just for this purpose. We honestly are not. Thank you for your kind suggestion. I appreciate where you are coming from. I trust that we will all do whatever we can to give support to this effort. Best regards, Lillian

BDC, it was just an idea to do something corporately as a community. I guess you don't think of us as a community and that's fine. :-( I gave $15 directly to the red cross on the Internet. That's a more direct method, eh? Of course $5 or $15 isn't really anything when you look at the magnitude of the situation. It's like telling Indonesia "Hope everything works out." :-|

Maybe not Moe, but if 10 million people in the US do the same thing, that's 50-150 million dollars. So it adds up. I agree with Rosity in this case. It's much more direct and faster to give directly than to wait until everyone has donated before sending the funds. It would be good though if people would contribute to the Red Cross or one of the other help organizations and Rosity could promote that by putting up links somewhere prominantly.
I agree...every bit adds up. I was planning on buying some things in the MP but instead realized the money would be better off to the Red Cross...so that is where it went this month. Did anyone see this news article about the animals over in the countries? http://www.cnn.com/2004/TECH/science/12/30/quake.animals.reut/index.html Warm Regards, Nancy (SophiaDeer)

MoeGoofie In my ealier post, I was pointing out that it would not be all that difficult too set up a fund that the members here could donate too, in order to do something as a whole. Moe I was not giving comment on wether I think this site is a community or not to begin with.I guess that small fact was lost upon you as you rushed to attack attack attack.

When you set up a charity fund you become accountable legally, not just letting members know where it's going and how much. That takes resources and man power to accomplish not to mention the record keeping and the length of time required to keep those records. The Red Cross and other organizations are already set up for this so it much, much more efficient to go that route and Renderosity has already posted links to them for donations in many of the forums.

Setting up, yes it's very easy. It's the record keeping and the accountability a business has that would take the extra man hours and I completely understand Renderosity not wishing to undertake that when there are so many others already set up and ready to go.
Renderosity should not be criticized over this.
