Subject: Importing from SketchUp

I am trying to import a 3D file from sketchUp which I then want to texture and render in Vue 5. However, every time I import a .dfx Vue 5 crashes, and when I go for a .3dx I cannot make head or tail of the wire frame to add anything but a single texture. Sorry for being naive but what I am doing wrong. Thanks Felix

Save your SU file as 3ds and it should load with no problem.

Felix, I always export from SU to Vue in Wavefront obj.-format. Works like a charm every time - if it's a large model containing many groups/components, in Vue 5 you can even weld the whole thing into a single object and still access all materials. 3ds works fine too, but has limitations with regard to the size of the model, and doesn't allow smoothing of curved faces.

Just a quick sample of a 3ds with native SketchUp materials rendered in my new Vue 5
