I've noticed alot more photos popping up in the photo gallery that contain 2D and 3D graphics. I then noticed a statement on the photography gallery page that stated..."Images containing 2D elements, stock photography or 3D elements should be uploaded to the Mixed Medium or 2D galleries." What gives?

Hugs Stan

First, always great to see you posting to the Forum, and hope you had a most wonderful New Year Eve :]

As to Photo Gallery postings that contain 2D and 3D elements.

We [Da Mods and Coords] do our very best to view all images that are posted to the gallery as soon as they are posted - but you [as a former coord] know how some images do slip by un-noticed.

We promise that we are doing our best to keep an eye on the Photo Forum for images that may contain excessive 2D elements [a certain amount of 2D elements are allowed, and each image is taken on an image by image basis, and of course excessive use of 2D elements in a photo would mean it would be moved asap to another gallery].

If you notice images that you feel that have excessive 2D or 3D elements - please post an IM to any of the Photo Forum team and we will glady review the image :)

We truly appreciate all the extra "eyes" that we can get :]

Again, wishing you a most wonderful New Year!

Hugs
Dee-Marie

The Statement is a General Guide for Participants to the Photography Gallery....and it is the Photographer themselves that must be the Judge of where their work goes..if a Copyright is breeched, then they are usually informed by IM. Some slip through, due to the large volume of Photographs being Posted. The Co-Coordinator and Moderators do their best...but...to Patrol the Galleries full time, looking for the odd breech, becomes a full time Job....and IMHO, some of these Breeches are very minor.

The most important thing to keep in mind is that the Photo Forum and Gallery remain a "fun" place to showcase our Photography skills :] Thanks everyone for making the Photo Forum and the Photo Gallery a great place to call home :) Dee-Marie

I guess I don't see things as other people do. Photography is simple that..photos. When a photo contains something other than the photo...say 2D or 3D elements other than a frame...it really isn't a photo any longer, but it's mixed media. It may have started out as a photo.

Hi Stan :) I appreciate, respect, and understand your point of view :) However, adding a small amount of 2D to an image - as in text - is within the original policy guidelines :) Again, as noted - this is the Photo Gallery and if the additions to any photo grow to excess, the image will be moved to another Gallery :) Thanks again Sincerely Dee-Marie

I think the season may have something to do with it too.

And every one said, 'If we only live,
We too will go to sea in a Sieve,---
To the hills of the Chankly Bore!'
Far and few, far and few, Are the lands where the Jumblies live;
Their heads are green, and their hands are blue, And they went to sea in a Sieve.

Hi Onslow - I agree, many members were very creative with their holiday greetings - which, was ok, in most cases. Again, if anyone notices a gallery posting that you feel is out of place in the Photo Gallery - please bring it to the attention of one of the Forum's staff for review. Wishing everyone a most amazing year - filled with wonderful photo ops :) Dee-Marie

sigh This old topic again. It's a judgement call. Some slip by. Generally I handle it by posting a little note that the audience may be more appreciative in one of the other Galleries. And, as pointed out, it seems to be a seasional thing and some degree of benevolence is justified. IMO, what we do NOT want to do is make a strict list: These are OK. These are NOT OK. These are maybe OK if there are no more than three of them... [Good answer, Tedz. But I do worry when you get into minor Breeches. If not consenting adults it could be a problem.]

blush....You are sounding like My Probation Officer Misha. What size Breeches do You wear?
