Hiya Jinx...did you import the tree pp2 from Poser? It looks to me like you're trying to just import the object (.obj), which comes in without textures. The pp2 has the textures mapped onto it. I just downloaded one of the trees, will go check it out for you and see what I can come up with, as I don't remember if you have Poser or not.
Hi again, Jinx, Martin's right. I brought in a tree from Poser (the tree and the leaves are separate meshes), and it was fine, but when I just imported the objs (tree and then leaves), you have to add the trans maps. Click on transparency, set global transparency to 100%, then tick the little box that says variable transparency. When the function appears at the right (usually a sphere), right click and open the transparency editor. Add the right trans map for the leaf you want to use. I had to reverse the trans map (click on the little tiny black and white square). Just one more thing; as I mentioned, the leaves are separate from the tree, so before you move anything, you might want to group the tree and leaves so the trunk doesn't take off without the leaves, lol!
It could be 2 things, I think. 1. Make certain the alphas (transparency maps) are pure black and white, with no gray. You can do this in Photoshop or Paint Shop Pro by increasing the contrast. 2. If you use a volumetric atmosphere in Vue 4, you'll usually get those types of artifacts, although I haven't seen them that dark. Vue 4 + volumetrics don't handle alphas very well.
