Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2024 Dec 03 8:59 am)
Andrew, If you have the pose in which the legs are how you want already, then you could open it in a text editor or cr2edit and delete all the parts that you don't want to modify save it as a .pz2 and name it whatever you want in the pose library. When you load it in your figure it will only modify the legs and will keep the rest of the body intact. This is the same process to save a pose with my NBS.
Thanks for replying, Posermatic. Can you clarify on this ? i.e. what am I supposed to be deleting etc. ? .... I have rarely hacked into the various poser files, so I haven't taken much if any time to explore the inner workings of pose files, etc - which is a bit odd I suppose, seeing as I am a .NET programmer by profession. Are there perhaps any Python scripts around that will assist with this ? regards, Andrew
Andrew, Since you are a programmer then you wouldn't have any problem with PML (Poser markup language). I was at first a little bit lost and open the files with a little fear and respect, until I found that it was just like Postscript and all clear to me. Well, you can go to my homepage and download Cr2editor151. Put the .exe in anywhere you want. Once it is installed open your pose and you will see what I mean, all affected body actors will show up (hip, abdomen, chest, etc.) you just have to select and delete the body parts that you don't want, chest, head. Leave the ones you want to move and that's it! Easy but you have to see it for yourself to understand it, it's a good thing you start with a .pz2 file because the construction it's very simple and less frightening:) Hope this help Posermatic
Hi Andrew, yet another solution here. You could also use my PoseTools. One of the things it can do, is to save / read any Pose File- compressed or standard,P3 or P4 or P5 -, and you can choose to apply only the (partial) poses for the arms, or the legs or the rump, or the head; lots of options for morphs, scales, XYZ, Body data etcetera. As far as I can make out, Cr2editor15 allows for more control in detail (sounds like a great tool by the way, Posermatic!), but on the other hand PoseTools doesn't change the original file. Depends on what you want. If you're interested, go to http://www.pcbos.nl/3D.htm There is a full manual available on the POSETool's pages there. Cheers, Paul Christiaan
Paul,
I think that you have a great package in the Posetools but it's so great and has so many options that nobody fully understands it.
Let me tell you that you have open my curiosity, but let me ask you how's that Ptools "doesn't change the original file"? Why would it change it in the first place?
Anyway, other thing that want to ask you is could Ptools would be comparable with Cr2edit 5 or 6(by zenware)?
Posermatic
BTW the cr2editor151 that it's in my homepage it's from John Stallings.

Hi all, I am wondering if, once you have applied a full pose to a character's body, if you can apply another pose that will just affect part of the body. Confused ? ... for example if I apply a flex pose to David, but don't like the way the legs are standing - how can I change just the legs while keeping the torso in the flex position ? Thanks in advance. regards, Andrew
