I was over at Daz and the base model V3 is on sale for FREE however you still need the morphs

You might as well PAY attention, because you can't afford FREE speech

Again, you need the morph packs!

Overtly, the injection morphs were supposedly there for ease of use, but really it was so that Daz could double the price of the figure :p

I think V2 was more than $40 (the morph packs are only 19.99 at this time) I'd say it's pretty reasonably priced. Even better if you are a PC member. eric

yeah, but you really need both morph packs, so... Base Package - $40 Head Morphs - $20 Body Morphs - $20 compared with M2 complete - $30

guslaw ( ) posted Wed, 05 January 2005 at 7:47 PM

Stop complaining people. Here's the deal... V3 - Free! M3 - Free! Head & body morph pack are now combined into one package V3 Head & Body Morphs - $30 on sale for $25.46 M3 Head & Body Morphs - $30 on sale for $25.46 or V3 and M3 Head & Body Morph Bundle - $50 on sale for $42.46 You get a complete, fully useable figure, all morphs including spandex suit with wrist, collar and ankle edge morphs for under $26 or two figures for 42 1/2 bucks. These are the current state-of-the-art Poser figures. So where is the problem?

I know what you're saying, I'm just pointing out that by supplying the morphs as extras Daz increased the cost of the 3rd generation figures compared to 2nd generation, at full price by as much as twice

Marketing Baby!

Well, when V2 & M2 were the current generation, I think they were about $69, so I just don't see what you are trying to say. They might be a cheaper now, but that is because they aren't the "current" bunch.

I think it's great if you are making clothes etc for the figures. This way you can get in on the designing end without all the frills your not interested in. It also is a generous offer for those that have a tendency to purchase packages then can't or don't have the time to use them. leaving a feeling of wasted money would make you not purchase anything from any of us. Baby steps, get a taste of the field then make an informed choice of where you want to go with it. Good job Daz!

It was occuring to me earlier today that there are many uses of the poser product other than expression and art. Many of the more technical applications do not require morphs or textures. Of course the idea of giving away the camera and selling you the film is as old as... well cameras and film. DAZ knows that providing Studio and V3 M3 for free they can cash in on the accessories etc. I love it, I enjoy the whole process. I like paying for good products and I like getting a good deal like now. Makes me feel like a happy functioning consumer. Love DAZ, Love Renderosity. If it were not for the immediate purchases, the free stuff, the community of on line people and the ability to share work and see the work of others and interact with them I would have given all this up a month after trying out poser. Thanks to everyone and to the folks who make all this possible.

Ditto!

This just makes it even better for those of us that make add ons for these figures that don't require seperate morph packs. And when I bought M2, he was 60$, and I was incredibly disappointed by what I got. When I bought M3, I was disappointed, but not NEARLY so bad. If the base had been free, I'd have been one happy guy.
