I am determined to conquer waterfalls. This is yet another try to get a halfway decent image of one.

Any comments appreciated.....please pull it to bits :-) BTW this is only part of the whole thing, which is set up at 800x600 at present. Not certain yet just what will be in the rest of the image.

Lovely feeling of movement here, and the water blends into the terrain almost perfectly, which is the bane of so many waterfall images. The water may be a touch too reflective. :)

have to say, pretty damn good, but the terrains are throwing the perspective off. i think it has to do with the texturing at the very center of the image (mid foreground). waterfall wise, sure, looks awesome, but i guess no matter what you do with bryce, you'd need a serious amount of postwork. drac

Impressive looking waterfall. I would like to see something that puts the size into perspective. Maybe some trees or houses in the background to give the viewer some idea of the size of the waterfall.

Remember that for a waterfall to exist, it has to come from a SNOW source. Or mountains that are very high up... All you need to complete the illusion in this image is one higher terrain on the far right, in the background even.... Doing very well! Throw in some trees...?

Looks very hard for some mountains behind Niagra falls. Uhh... Ok... Sometimes where the water originates is a bit too far to be seen. Ditto about the trees though.

Aye, I suppose you're right, Paul! I figured since this was a smaller river, stream maybe, that it might add to the realism...

chohole ( ) posted Tue, 04 January 2005 at 4:33 PM

I was thinking of maybe some trees and other things, as I said this is only the bottom right part of the Image. Haven't quite decided where its going yet. Sometimes my images have a mind of there own and end up totally unexpected. At least the waterfall mainly passes muster?

Looks great to me, Chohole. Looking forward to seeing more.

Very nice!! but the mid ground water looks too whitewater, tone that down some and it'll be awesome!

Do you know Bryster I have been known to stand in a river up to my knees, trying to get a photo from that view point. In Wales of all dogforsaken places. Unfortunately I am not a very good photgrapher, arthritus makes my hands not very steady. I may try that later, once I have got this image finished.

Sorry Chris, couldn't resist that. BTW my surname by a now defunct marriage is Davies, and I actually love wales, spent lots of hols there. In fact first holiday I had with my current partner I took him to Wales...Barry Island...now that is definately a dogforsaken place, but made a good cheap base to venture out from.

OK Barry Island - I'll give you that. But the part of Wales I live in is spectacular - especially Snowdonia - ask Ang!

Used to go camping, one year we toured round Wales, spent 2 or 3 nights in a camp site in Snowdonia. Used to get woken up each morning by the airforce practsing low flying along the valley, escept for the morning it was misty and everyone in the camp overslept without their early morning call! :-) It's those darn sheep that get me, you drive round a bend on a nice mountain road and there's these sheep, doing what sheep do best, all over the road.
