Sorry I had to intrude here by posting this...... I've been receiving a lot of e-mails of late with regards to donations for tsunami victims from various countries including my own. Damn how they got my addie. Tho some are legit, I would advise generous people to do a check on these organisations. A friend of mine was scammed this way. I hate to make such a curse but I wish the tsunamis took them instead.......

There are always some heartless, evil scum in the world who try to profit from others loss and suffering.... Anyway dv8 thanks for the head's up. Billy

Thanks for the heads up. I was asked how I would make a donation online, I said I wouldn't. I would get into a taxi and drive over to the campus of Rangsit University here. All the processing fees and currency conversions eat into the donation. Best to go with something you know. - M (Bangkok, Thailand )

Yes unfortunately there are a lot of f****n people who want to turn this catastrophy to his/her profit.beat them... NEVER DONATE by online!(aside from known company, crew etc..) just an advice for everybody... I went directly to the red-cross. If you can donate, then do it!every single euro,forint,dollar,cent,font,penny,frank,gulden,shaker,peso,yen,kuno,corona,bani,leva,lej,rubel,kopek,lek..etc..counts!

Howdy Moebius. Glad to know your OK.

There were a few cases of con-jobs here in Malaysia. Some were caught..... GOOD, serves them right.

Moe, I'm glad you are OK! I t've been away for awhile-but I'd thought you were in Thailand. The magnitude of the catastrophe is beyond comphrehension- my heart goes out to you all. I'm sure everyone there is affected- it would be impossible to NOT be affected. Ekho, exactly! For those of us farther away- I've heard news reports on the scamming problem- and it's said it is best to directly contact charities. I've heard that the International Red Cross is a good organization to contact. Eric

Maybe we as a group could do something to help. Maybe we could design a poster or animation that people could download from the web regarding one aspect of the disaster. It could perhaps encourage people to remain generous, or encourage them to give to only reputable charities, or emphasising that we are all part of one world. Just an idea. Any other ideas????

Ok folks... yes, this is a very important topic, but let's put things in place before they get out of hand and we loose track of what this particular forum is all about. Instead of leaving it here in LightWave 3D Forum, let's move this over to the Community Center. We may be able to get more folks involved. Thank you very much for your concern, support and all your efforts. Sincerely, Moebius87 Renderosity Moderator

Attached is a link to the Front Page article that we have posted right now on the disaster. You are correct, with so many scams people really have to be careful to make sure they only go with the charities that they know are reputable. Thank you for the reminder dv8_fx. SeptemberSnow we really appreciate and understand wanting to help the victims. That is why we encourage everyone to donate to the existing charities that are set up for this purpose. We just didn't think it was right to do anything that might potentially turn this into a marketing event, a sales campaign, or that would shift the focus away from the survivors and onto Renderosity. Best wishes, LillianH Renderosity Marketing & Promotions
