Subject: Advice needed about P5 Hair room dynamics issue.

Hi,
I have a couple of questions regarding Poser 5 hair room.
I am using the Poser 5 Hair room to give a shower effect (which looks quite good, I might add) but I am finding that the saved dynamics simulation does not seem to load or initialise correctly. Although the "hairs" were working correctly before I saved the pose (to get a much needed rest from posing) when I later re-start poser and load the scene and then render, many of the hairs are all over the place as if the dynamics have been corrupted. Should I be clearing the dynamics and re-calculating each time I load the case? Is this just a bug issue when using dynamics?
Also I'd really like to get the hairs colliding with things (as opposed to just going through!) but I cannot find any information about this feature. I ticked the collisions box but the hairs ignored it! The Hair room seems to have less controls for collisions than the Cloth room does.
Thanks in advance from,
Jovial.

To save your simulation, go to the File heading in Poser and save as a pz3 file. this will also create a dyn file which is the hair simulation. For collisions to work you must check the collisions box, and then in your parameter's properties tab, check collisions for the head, neck, right and left collars, and any other parts that may collide with the hair.

Thanks Kirwyn for the bit about collisions. I had not realized that collisions required ticks for all objects involved. Doh. I actually was saving the .PZ3 (and associated .DYN file) correctly BUT the dynamics file is being loaded and somehow corrupted when I load the PZ3 back in. Regards from, Jovial.

Hey, Kirwyn, weren't you going to do a dynamic hair tutorial? Did you ever finish it?

That is weird about the corruption of the dyn file. I think I recall something similar happening to me awhile back. I think I had to remove a file that was somehow improperly placed into the Runtime folder. But I don't remember it very well, so hopefully someone else will come in and give you the proper answer.

Without being able to go into specifics, I can say that this long overdue tutorial is coming soon, and hopefully it will clearly demonstrate just how fast, easy, and effective dynamic hair can be.

Thanks! I'll be looking forward to it.

Also be aware that what you see isn't neccesarily what you have. The dynamic hair can -seem- to explode all over the place, but if you switch cameras, or to another room, it is back to where it should be. Not sure what the cause is, but so far it has proven to be harmless....just distressing until things go back to normal.

Jovial- I think I know what you mean. I saved a poser animated scene with animated hair in it and rendered some frames. When I open the file again in a new poser session and render it- it isn't the same although the latter version does remain consistant.
