Subject: Possibly silly question on V3/M3

Ok, I've gone mad like most of the rest of the community and downloaded the free V3 and M3 base from DAZ...but what the heck are injections and how are you supposed to use them? And where the heck do the !whatever folders go?? I haven't been able to figure out how to make WinZip put things where theyr'e supposed to go by using the legendary "use file structure" setting, heck, can't even FIND that setting, so any help at all is welcome.

Why are you using WinZip - M3/V3 come as executable installers? Or are you using third party character sets, with Inj/Rem poses? If it's the latter you will also need the Head and probably the Body morph packs from DAZ for the figure in question (there are some discounted bundle deals on those at the moment). The Inj/Rem poses then go in a folder in the pose library, just like Mat files, and when you apply it the Inj pose reads in the data for the morph (the figure you initially load has just empty slots waiting for that data - it reduces the strain on your system) and sets its value. The Rem pose clears and hides the morphs used by the character. Just to be confusing, the morph packs also come with Inj/Rem poses but those just load and show the dial for the morph - they leave it set at 0 so there's no visible change to the figure until you use the dial - which confuses everyone the first time.

To my knowledge the freebies do NOT come with the morph packs....they are on sale however.

Here's a screenshot of what to check & where to unzip to. I have my poser on Drive E.....you should change that drive to where yours is located.

Hope this helps :) Ditto the above also....ALL daz stuff has it's own installer..however this pick should aid you when using WinZip in the future... Darn cross post :(

Ah, well, I'm trying to install third party goodies...so I'll bookmark this thread special and keep an eye here...the head and body bundles will have to wait till payday....hehe..thanks!

The V3 and M3 base packs come with some limited morphs. Some facial expressions. If you try to apply a third party product, like a new character for V3 you get a series of errors where the V3 morph channel is not present.

"The Inj/Rem poses then go in a folder in the pose library, just like Mat files," Hmm..so I should put all those !stuff folders in the pose folder? Ok..I'll give it a run...thanks!

Usually - but if you have something with a custom morph (made with magnets or a 3d modeller) that has been made into an injection pose then there probably will be a set of files that don't go in the Pose library, as they aren't intended to be used directly but are instead called by the Inj/Rem poses. That's why it's a good idea to unzip with path names, even if you do it to a temporary folder. However the basic Inj/rem poses that are visible to the user within Poser can be moved around like Mat files, yes.
