One thing I can think of is to try importing poser figures one at a time if your scene has more than one poser character. I usually break up my scenes in multiple poser files : one for each character and one (or multiple files) for props and accessories.
The last scene I did, I managed to get in 5 poser figures(people) before I crashed....Using Vue5...NOT the latest update(the one prior to this one)....If you are using the latest update I'm not encouraged...darn it...keep in mind though..Vue5 is still being tweaked....report all issues to e-on please....so they can further research & fix this memory issue. That said a scene I did prior to that had 400+ objects all PZ3 items but NO people and had NO crashes.....I'm guessing it has something to do with the size of the textures being used on the Poser peeps,most are 4000x3000...can't say for sure, but that's my bet. After doing some research on video cards, I've yet to come across one that supports this size. If anyone knows of one, let me know :)
What I have found to be of great help is to convert all your .pz3's to .vobs in VUE(right click/save object) and then import these into your scene. In the last render I did ("Hustle and Bustle" posted for now at RDNA in the User Gallery) I was able to get twelve Poser peeps and two animals in 'fore having it come crashing down 'round my ears '-)! Another thing you might want to do is use the blank figures (if you have them) for those characters that do not require any morphing, i.e. supporting characters or those not being viewed close-up! Hope this helps and btw...although I have heard, as Sharen has pointed out above, that Poser should not be open while importing into VUE I do keep my Poser running while running VUE and have no issues with the importing of .pz3's?
Ohhhh...and one more thing...LOL...I also delete any part of my Poser figures before converting to .vob's that will be covered by clothing, so if you were to look at my latest render the only body parts that are actually there are the heads, necks, and hands for the most part'-)! Kind of tough if you're doing a beach scene '-), but it's worth mentioning!
Thanks for all your answers. I am using Vue 5 and I'm in love with the whole program (and extremly sad with the crashes, of course). The idea of converting them to VOBs and the other, to hide the covered body parts do seem to help a lot! I have only been able to pay with Vue at night, when I get home from work, so here to the dead brain situation may be at work. :-) Will try a little more and see what happens. Sygnus

Hi there I am new to the community and am just begining to play with vue. What made the difference when choosing between vue and bryce was the hability to open poser files, but it almost always crashes when trying to open more complex figures. And the few times i can get it to work, it will crash for certain when I load a second figure. Am I doing anything wrong? I have an Athlon 2.8Ghz, 1MB Ram, 128M ATI card and plenty of space left, and vue crashes even with OpenGL off. I did apply the latest updates and still nothing... Any clue?
