Subject: Aika 3 How do I, the newest newbie,

gpacioli ( ) posted Sun, 09 January 2005 at 8:40 PM · edited Mon, 18 November 2024 at 10:00 PM

I downloaded the free one not because to save but to learn --- right off I like the plastic wetsuit. Now I want to remove it. Will anyone please tell me how. I think I start by going into the heirarchy window. I tried but I keep erasing her legs.

The wetsuit is actually the Aiko model with the material color changed on those areas. You'll have to adjust that in the "Material" room. What I would do is (in the material room)click on a portion of her skin that is skin colored (like a hand) and when the material node pops up, click on its name bar to select it and CTRL-C to copy it. Then click on the wetsuit colored portion and when its material node pops up, paste the one you copied in instead. You may have to repeat this for various parts.

Go into your Poses library under !MAT Aiko 3. You can remove the catsuit by clicking on CatSuitFull Off.

And just in case you don't have a clue what I'm talking about.. If you have your libraries open they should be on the right of your screen. If not, at the top of your screen, under the Window tab, click on Libraries (or just do Shift+Ctrl+B)

Hope that helps :D

Since I have the complete version, I wasn't sure if that MAT was in the free one... good to know!

I'm still waiting on my cd with Complete on it :D It's also good to know the other way too, especially if one wants to use V3 or S3 textures on Aiko 3. I always forget about the knee, shin and thigh until I see that the texture is different on them. Michelle

Wow@ You've really helped me. Thanks.

Now, I tried to put some clothes on her --- couldn't! Are the clothes under textures?

spothmann ( ) posted Sun, 09 January 2005 at 10:07 PM

No, clothes are usually under 'Character'. Are you certain that you have bought actual clothes and not just texture sets for clothes (which are sold seperately)?

Clothes are usually in the Figures library. Occasionally under Props. I find the ones under Figures easier to work with (I'm a newbie as well). After you find the clothing you want to add, just click on the item once and then click on the double checkmarks at the bottom (if you click on the single checkmark it will want to replace your figure). Then go to the top of your screen under the Figure tab and click on Conform To, and choose Aiko. I can't remember if she is actually named or shows up as Figure 1. To make it easier on yourself until you get a better grasp of things, make sure the clothing you are adding is intended for Aiko 3. There is some great free clothing and hair for Aiko 3 at the link above. I just thought of this.. what program are you using? Poser (which version) or Daz Studio? I use Poser 5, so I might be giving you the wrong info if you are using something different. Hope that helps. Michelle

Thanks Michelle, I find her clothes in the library but there are no checkmarks show up at the bottom --- must be telling me I should have learned how to install the stuff as a first lesson. I realize I must work this out for mself. Thanks again.

Hey Michelle, After I download Aika3 files from Yamato i get a folder on my desktop with a folder inside named runtime --- inside runtime are three folders: Geometries, libraries, textures. At some point I place these inside my Poser 5 which resides in Applications --- Can you tell me what and where I put what. He calls them A3Fair. The other freebie I downloded called their folder lyR.

Oops I forgot to warn you about those zips. 90% of the time it is safe to just unzip things in your Poser folder. But occasionally there is either an extra folder or no folders at all. I usually do this... Download everything to a folder in My Documents (I name them according to which program they go with, so I download to the Poser folder I made). Scan the downloads for virus. I've mostly been using WinRar to unzip, so my directions might be different for what you are using. I use the Extract Here option. When I get folder other than Runtime I just go into it and zip the Runtime folder (usually if there is a Runtime, most everything inside is already in the correct order). Then I take the Runtime zip and go into C (or whatever your hard drive is named), Program Files, Curious Labs, Poser. Now depending on how you have your Poser organized will depend on where you go from there. I have several Runtimes. But if you are just starting out Click on the Downloads folder and upzip there. Now for the first question, sorry I had to wait for Poser to load to answer this one lol. In Poser, with your Libraries open, Click once on the item you want (if you don't already have Aiko loaded then only one of the checkmark buttons appear. You should see that the item you clicked once on is highlighted. When it is highlighted the checkmarks appear at the bottom of your Library. I hope that makes sense, I just woke up and am a bit groggy. Michelle

being the nut I am, I do it manually; it takes forever, and it's a p.i.t.a, but most times, it works. I create the actual paths on my HD, then copy the files out of the zip..if you use Winzip, the paths are on the far right..you can go 'automatic', but make sure that the files reached thier destination (I have 3 V3's, on in a [nonexistant] Curious Labs folder, one in a Poser4 folder, and a working one in my Metacreations folder..noone's immune..;)

I wish I'd said that.. The Staircase Wit

Most reassuring to find 'I'm not the only one.' Some day this file of mine will be a hellofamess.
