Subject: PayPal - Confused?

Ascinct ( ) posted Sat, 08 January 2005 at 10:51 PM · edited Fri, 08 November 2024 at 4:03 AM

I am not sure if this is the correct place to post this, so please forgive me if I've placed it in the incorrect forum!

I am new here, and I am wanting to purchase a product from the renderosity store.
I am wanting to pay using Paypal but I am unsure on the procedure.
What I am wanting to know is, do I add funds to my paypal account, or does it work just like a bank, and they simply take the payment out of my savings account?

Ive had a look around, but nothing is clear to me on how it works. Can someone please help me out?

Thankyou
Ascinct

you have to add the funds to paypal. if the funds aren't in your paypal account then your purchase will be refused.

If your PayPal account is verified, and you add a checking account number to your PayPal account, when you make a purchase and you don't have enough funds in your PayPal account they will deduct the needed funds from your checking account. With this set up you can also do an instant transfer to buy stuff on line, or do an electronic check to pay for stuff. Renderosity can be paid by PayPal, and when you get to yourPayPal account you can choose the method you want to use.

I've never put funds into a PayPal account. They just take it directly from my bank account. I can imagine some of you are shuddering at that, but it makes it easier for me, and I've had no problems in two years. The transaction shows up (usually) the next day after you made hte purchase.

I transfer money even though I have a verified account, and it does a Money Market sweep every month. You can transfer instantly (although your bank may charge a fee) or just stash money ahead of time... takes 3-4 days with no fee. By only spending what has been set aside, I have some discipline on my purchases. And if I don't spend it, it gets a bit of interest. :) When making a purchase at eBay or a Poser store, just click the Paypal icon and you will go to the safe page for logging on and the transaction details should all be filled in for you. With the instant payment, your downloads are often instantly set... so online shopping takes less time than finding the keys to the car. Carolly

Adding funds to a PayPal account appears to be different if you live outside of the US.
And I live in Australia.
Cant I just transfer funds from my bank account into my PayPal account?

If it is possible, can someone please kindly reply with the procedure, as the paypal help files arnt 100% clear to me!

Thankyou all
Ascinct

Logon to your paypal account. On your overview screen to the left, in a box, are options for your account. Select 'add bank account'. Follow their instructions, they make two deposits in your bank account. You need to call your bank and find out what the amounts were, and then go to 'verfy your bank account' there's usually a link on your overview page to take you there. Enter the amounts, and they will verify them and then you have sucessfully added your bank account to your PayPal account. You can also add a credit card to your Paypal account, by using the 'add credit card' link to the left of your overveiw page, usually it's right under the bank account link.

I am in Australia, and if I use Pay Pal it comes out of my Credit Card. If I have funds in my PayPal account, usually from international EBay sales, thge money is taken from the Pay Pal account first.
