Dystopia will probably be right for you. There's a free version which you can get from Freestuff here.

what difference with package in MP?

Veritas777 ( ) posted Tue, 11 January 2005 at 3:41 PM

The Commercial Dystopia package has really great texture maps and somewhat better details... ...But- coming SOON- Stonemason is going to release an absolutely AWESOME (and fairly HUGE) downtown city set that will be PERFECT for a US Inner City and 1930-40's City look. Can't WAIT! Ideal for retro scenes- and best of all (and what I hoped for-) it will fit nicely as a fore-ground DETAILED set, with streets, power-lines, etc, and you can use DYSTOPIA as a larger scale background. (Some of Dystopia's buildings look almost retro modern city- if you pick the right blocks.)

Veritas777, I agree with you about Stonemason's new sets. They look awesome.

Check over at the DAZ forum if you want to see some shots of the Stonemason set. It's going to be a BIG HIT!...

XENOPHONZ ( ) posted Tue, 11 January 2005 at 4:08 PM

Stonemason's stuff is always a big hit. And with good reason.

The foreground/new Stonemason set -- background/Dystopia set is a great idea for a big city scene.

Andi3d's city blocks are great, too. You might want to take a look at those.

Personally, I like to have as much variety as possible in the background scenery that's available to me. I wouldn't have any problems at all in mixing Stonemason's stuff, Andi3d's stuff, and Dystopia together into a scene.

If you've got the system resources/software (like Vue Pro or Infinite) -- then it can be done.

Not so sure that Poser could handle such a render, however..........especially with some mil figures thrown into the scene.

Especially since he wants it for animation. Perhaps something lower-res would better.

Anyone have a link with the pics?

Veritas777 ( ) posted Tue, 11 January 2005 at 8:17 PM

You have to log into the DAZ Forum- and then look under the "COMMONS" section. The thread by Stonemason should still be on the first page... (Lots of people over there raving about it!)

Ajax ( ) posted Tue, 11 January 2005 at 8:17 PM

You can see pictures of stonemason's new set in his recent thread in the product showcase forum. It's called "urban sprawl. For pictures of the Dystopia blocks you can look in my gallery or my store. I posted a thread in this forum a long time back with pictures of the free Dystopia blocks, but I'd have a hard time finding it. All of the Dystopia City block sets are similar quality to each other anyway, so seeing pictures of any of them will give you the idea. Stonemason's gallery is a good place to see both the Dystopia sets and his new urban sprawl set.

I rarely check the Product Showcase Forum- but I found it over there. (see link)... This will be a GREAT set to try out with Vue 5 and HDRI, heh! (Got my Athlon 64, 1.5 GB RAM, nVidia GeForce READY and WAITING for THIS baby...)

Hey, Ajax!! Any word on when a Poser version of Dystopia 51-60 is going to be out there? That bridge is soooooo droolworthy.... Plus all the less than stratospheric structures...

...BTW- for anyone interested in taking the Stonemason set into a more 1930's-40's direction- here's some nice period buildings available from Baument that would compliment it nicely...

Ajax ( ) posted Tue, 11 January 2005 at 9:19 PM

Hi Dale :-) 'fraid I have no information on that. I'm still waiting to see obj versions of the models. The last I heard, they were going to be done some time ago but as far as I know the conversion process hasn't started yet.

This is one of Andi3d's city blocks. I changed a couple of the building materials in the distance in vue d'esprit where I rendered it. And I used the same block twice at two different angles to make the scene look bigger. Love esther

MY ONLINE COMIC IS NOW LIVE

I aim to update it about once a month.  Oh, and it's free!

Does anyone know if the sidewalks in stonemason's urban sprawl would match up with those in Daz Paragon and Deco Club? It looks just great and I may get it eventually. But right now I have been itching to put the Deco Club and Paragon into a "run-down" neighborhood. I have seen such things! The problem with those particular models is I can't match up their sidewalks and streets with anthing. So it is difficult to shoot from many angles if the ground shows.
