Subject: Okay, who's up for a challenge? - Forum POLL

Teyon ( ) posted Fri, 07 January 2005 at 12:05 AM · edited Sat, 23 November 2024 at 3:55 PM

We're gonna try this again gang but I'm taking a poll to find out if we should and how we should go about it.

Let's face it, everybody needs to better thier skills but not everyone can decide on a subject to start with. Challenges are agreat way to get the jusices flowing. So here's what I want to know:

  1. How many of you would like to see a challenge/modeling excercise here?

  2. Would you prefer the mods to decide the themes or the members? If the mods decide, would you like references/model sheets for every theme to aid you in the modeling process?

  3. Should the challenges/excercises be monthly or once every two months?

  4. Where do you feel your modeling strength is: Organics or Non-Organics?

Please let us know. This is your forum and we want to keep it active and interesting for you. Also, if there's anything else you want to see, now's the time to mention it. Large tutorials are best left for the individual program forums, so please hold off requests for those...

I don't have a lot of time, but I would like to see mods pick and provide model sheets/references.

im always game.. i havent been in the rhino forum, because zbrush is getting my main focus, and the zbrush forum here is a ghost town. but challenges are always a good thing, sooo. 1. yep there is at least one person interested. 2. either or, doesnt matter. 3. monthly is good with me, any more time and i tend to wander. 4. depends on what it is,:) Regards J.B. 1. Sure, why not? 2. Whatever works, as long as the challenges are interesting. Would a reference be necessary? I don't believe a reference is all that necessary unless it's a specific item being made. (A theme could be cars, and anything could work. Now if the theme were F1 racers, then sure - drawings/blueprints would help.) 3. One month is ok for most stuff (if the ideas aren't too far out.) 4. I'm more of an inorganic modeler, but it wouldn't stop me from trying different stuff. (You could cater to a group, or even have two separate challenges. But I think if it's to really be a challenge, then people should be open to trying new stuff.)

1.I am - if nothing else then for the training. 2. User-defined shortlist and a vote ? oh, and sheets. Definitely sheets 3. i think two months - I don't have much time, due to work, and there's probably also a bunch of n00bs ? 4. Non-organics and I'd love to learn more organics. Thanks :-) ~S

im up for a challenge Teyon.

2 monthly is preferable due to workload.

im not bothered bout who picks what as a subject matter, though i would prefer non organic challenges.

my strengths would be design and organics.

cheers
stu

be great to have a challenge. Organic or non-organic doesn't matter. And make it ONE month, if you drag it too long people would lose interest and u'll probably see a lot of unfinished WIPs. just a question, are the mods going to join? i know Teyon is great at organic and Moebius is great at inorganic so it'll be great if either or both join in the challenge, probably more as a benchmark to see where our level's at hehehe :-D

Teyon ( ) posted Wed, 12 January 2005 at 9:27 AM

Sure. I would enter if time permits.

Phlegm_Thrower ( ) posted Wed, 12 January 2005 at 9:39 AM

Teyon ( ) posted Wed, 12 January 2005 at 9:48 AM

lol. Well, the month's nearly lost to us but I'll try to cook something up by week's end.

Ok I'm game. I'm not a great organic modeller.
