Poser - OFFICIAL F.A.Q (Last Updated: 2025 Jan 20 11:41 am)
I ususally just refer to him as "P4 Guy." Even though I have, on very RARE occasions, referred to both "Dork" and "Dorkette" for the standard P3/4 characters, I don't usually like those terms. Maybe just Guy, since that IS an actual name. If we just say Guy, we'll know we're not talking about Michael/Mike. I never really thought P4 Guy was a dork, but just rendered wrong by most people (wrong texture map, wrong camera focal setting, wrong hair, etc.), although Michael and Vicki do make them look more dorky everyday. Oh well, the standard figures may be losing ground anyway, since the newer characters coming out are so much more versatile and the old characters may end up being outmoded. Who knows? Maybe it doesn't matter. Melanie

For the figures with the standard Poser 3/4 female head, the collective personal name Posette has developed; this is useful to distinguish her from Victoria etc. But we need a collective name for the figures with the standard Poser 3/4 male head. So far, people seem to tend to call them "dorks". But my 1991 edition Chambers Dictionary says that a dork is "USA slang: an idiot, a contemptible person (originally a penis)". If that is still its current USA meaning now, please, we need a politer name for him. I am sorry to be out of out of touch with current USA slang, but I live in England and I have never been to America.
