Subject: Question about P3dO Explorer Pro

Jackson ( ) posted Thu, 13 January 2005 at 9:55 AM · edited Sun, 12 January 2025 at 4:54 PM

Does anyone know if this program will produce thumbnails of PZ3 files? Or at least view them in a window without having to load them in Poser? The product description confuses me in that part of it indicates it does while other parts indicate it doesn't. See below. Thanks in advance. "P3dO Explorer pro is a more advanced P3dO Explorer. It comes with a Poser 3D viewer with texturing and Zip through loading capability. With P3dO pro you can browse your Zip archive easily. Compared to P3dO explorer P3dO pro brings: - Poser PZ3 3D viewer - Poser 3D viewing (free with 1.8) - Textured Poser files (free with 1.8) - Zip through Poser 3D viewing - Zip through Jpeg thumbs - Rsr2Png and Pattern renamer plugins working on subfolders - Layout manager - ability to name and quickly switch layouts Warning: At the moment P3dO's Poser 3D viewer lacks scaling and posing (coming soon) thus it doesn't render exactly as Poser does. This is anyway a good prop and cloth viewer and also a character helper, and still a file manager for Poser. "

Yes it does,,,well sort of,,,,it loads the models separately so you get V3 with her arms out in the zero pose position and the hair bove and the clothes more or less where they belong. It is helpful though to find the model and what clothing, props, etc are assigned. See my picture from a portion of a screen capture. I use it a lot to browse my pz3 files and pose files as well I can often find things more easily using it than the clumsly file structure in poser. I expect it will get better. Also its useful to view .zip files as it shows the picture in side the zip as a thumbnail. Hopes this helps. Glenn

I can't get anything when I click on a pz3 file. How did you get that to work. (I have the Pro version.)

I just checked I have version 1.7.5 pro . I checked texture maping under render and it works for me anyway. It takes a second or two maybe more on a slow PC. Good luck

I have version 1.7.2 Pro. It looks like maybe it's trying to show me something but it might take all night, if anythinge were indeed happening.

P3dO pro PZ3 viewer is not complete yet, sometimes it will show the PZ3 in a usable way this is what it gives in the ggrace picture above, sometimes it will just be raw obj displaying. I'm working on completing the PZ3 viewer, as I know it is a most requested feature. Once the engine has good enough render (and pose - we can see from picture above that the figure doesn't pose) P3dO pro will also generate thumbnails for the scenes. It can be said that the 3D engine is fine for props like Poser objects and just a helper for others. Ron, I think you should download 1.7.5 pro, I improved many things. Yarp

Hey Yarp, I'm looking at your site right now. I must have been asleep the past few months. I've missed the updates and such. You have one great program, and it is extremely useful. OK I feel dumb. Just what do I want to download if I have the registered version of P3DO Pro? Have you consider adding the ability to open two windows, side by side? That way someone could drag and drop from one side to the other. This screenshot doesn't quite show all the details, but maybe you get the idea. I use PowerDesk Utilities Pro for all my file managing, and I use P3DO to see my Poser stuff.

Thanks all for the answers. I guess I'll wait til the pz3 viewer is ready...that's really the only feature I need.

Ron, the update to P3dO pro is here (the P3dO pro download page): http://www.senosoft.com/softp3doproDownload.php Just override your current P3dO pro setup with this one - no need to reenter serial again. Yes I've been considering showing to folders for comparision purpose, rather than for drag'n drop, but drag'n drop should work with this. The solution for drag'n drop is to have a more Windows opened P3dO so that you can drag'n drop to and from Explorer/P3dO - the 1.7.5 is more opened in that way (the folder tree accept's Explorer's drag'n drop, I still have to finish dragging from P3dO to Explorer). So yes I've been considering showing 2 folders but not before I finish the PZ3 viewer ;) Jackson, you're probably not the only one. So you'll have to wait a little that one is my big 2005 task, and I hope joy.

Yarp, P3DO doesn't need to do everything. I'm surprised and pleased that you're adding as many things as you are. I still use it a lot. I just need to switch back and forth between P3DO and Powerdesk to get everything I need. Here is a screenshot of the view menu for Powerdesk. I just love those options.

This is in my so full todo box, but I'm affraid you need to be patient. If I sell enough P3dO I intend to hire someone's help to speed up developpement. At the moment I work half time on P3dO and things are already changing faster. Yarp

Hey, my friend, you already have a great product. I'm content just to sit back and enjoy it!
