Hello all...

This is the ODS-204 (Orbital Defense System) build by Land's Core Defense System's. It's main weapon is a very high powered laser. thats able to discharge a Laser Beam thats about 183,000 hzs

It's back up weapon is a very small laser that mainly used 4 smaller targets or targets that are at a very close range...

The pictuer you can see at the top is of the ODS been used in the Akillelys system. It was taken from the DSSP (Deep Space Research Platform)....

Comments plz :D

Thanks From Darkness

PS I know about my spelling mistakes... it comes with having learning difficulties...

183,000 hzs? you mean Hertz? I think that's somewhere between AM and FM, but you never know..I don't know which of several ways to measure laser outputs are in use, ergs, watts, 'gilettes' (actually considered, then dropped, back in the 60's..;)
The texture work is improving. I think what I'm seeing is the beam going out the far end, hitting an asteroid (?). Beams are hard to do in Bryce, I've managed to do it once or twice.. one of my pet wishes is to create a solid beam of arc-welding actinance, without postwork..;)You might drop a small radial with the light color just in front of the satellite, which both helps show detail, and makes it look a bit more 'real'. If you're comfortable with playing with the Deep Texture Editor, the solar panels might do with a little more 'shininess' (Specularity? reflection? I'm going off the deep end here..;)
If you can narrown the thickness of the solar panels, they'll look a bit more realistic. One thing you might try in Wings (if you're making this in there, it has a few of the telltale signs..;), is highlight the edges on the panels, extrude slightly (like..oh.. .005, or .010, something like that), and then texture them with a shiny metallic texture. Most satellites are pretty shiny, because of the need to counter solar heat and radiation
Keep with it, you're doing just fine.

Attached Link: http://fxhome.com/alamdv2/downloads.html

I created the laser beam using a program called AlamDV2... it's used to add effects to video files but you can also add them to pictuers... if you would like AlamDV2 the link at the top of this message

Hmm, to do serious damage it would have to be a Gamma-Ray laser... Don't know the frequencies, though! Gamma-Ray lasers actually exist, and cause more damage to a wider area than any Nuke. The Cold War was just the beginning... "SOL. We'll use SOL." (Akira)
