Subject: DAZ Eagle 2 upgrade can't find required file

nwm ( ) posted Fri, 14 January 2005 at 12:31 AM · edited Mon, 03 February 2025 at 12:05 AM

I purchased the DAZ Eagle 2 Upgrade together with the Eagle props today. The download comes in 3 files, one is called "ps_ac1115_DAZStudio" but it installs a lot of files into Bryce. The Eagle 2 updater does not find the required Eagle 1 file, to be sure, I installed it again although it was already there. I mailed the DAZ techs but haven't got a response yet. This is very frustrating, especially after re-downloading 280 MB+ of fixed files (David, Big Cats, div. Hair files).

You'll have a better chance of finding help here in the Poser forum -- it's possible someone else ran into this sort of issue. :-)

What version of Poser are you using? Are you using Pro Pack or Poser 5 and compressed files?

nwm ( ) posted Fri, 14 January 2005 at 7:55 AM

Poser 5, uncompressed

Do you have the DAZ eagle 1?

You might as well PAY attention, because you can't afford FREE speech

I just installed the new eagle with no problem, ao the question is- I'm assuming you already have the original Daz eagle installed, required. Secondly with the new installers, you are installing to poser, not Daz studio. Unless that's where you daz eagle resides. I don't belive you can have one in one application and try running an upgrade using the the other application. Make sense?

I must remember to remember what it was I had to remember.

Try installing the original Eagle to an empty folder, then point the new installer to that and see if it works.

I had a similar problem with the A3 clothing pack upgrade. What I finally did was to let the installer search for installed components (to find Poser I presume), and then it worked for me.

you know.. when I got the news letter (running on Sp2 so images are blocked until i ask for them) I thought Daz had aquired the rights to Eagle II... a model I'd kill for.. just a bird.. not Eagle 2. oh well

Yes, remember that the checker app needs to know WHERE you have Eagle 1. Inatall to the same Poser and the same Runtime as the original Eagle. Or do it the way RHaseltine suggests. :] Fish

Ok, I need probably be more precise. I have Poser 5, Poser 4 Pro and DAZ Studio on my Mac, running OS X 10.3.7. Both Posers have the old Platinum Club Eagle installed, I have the Phoenix and Roc for the Eagle and both work well. The installer for the update simply does not see the old eagle, no matter to which Poser I'm trying to install 4 or 5, it says the required file does not exist. Also, I cannot use "Extract" install, the Vise installer does not give me this oprion. I re-installed the old eagle, but that didn't help at all. It may be a specific Mac installer problem. As for the DAZ Studio installer...if it is a DAZ Studio Installer, WHY does it open with a Bryce splash screen and install into Bryce????

I don't remember exactly what the installer looks like, but I think that on the same screen as you choose which program to install to, there is a search button. Have you tried that? That's the way I solved my upgrade problem I wrote about before.

I just got response from DAZ, it's a problem with the installers search path. Should be fixed shortly.
