Deep Paint 3D is not cheap ($1290 list) but everyone who has used it likes it. Painter 3D should be real cheap (on ebay or something) but it is a bit of a pain to use. Many people who bought painter 3d have either gone to just using 2d paint packages or bought Deep Paint. (BTW, there is a cheaper Deep Paint product also ($295 list) - don't get it by mistake as it is a 2D only product). Neither does UVs directly, which is why I want to see how Flesh for Windows NT is before I buy a 3d paint package. But it isn't quite done yet. . . .

Their web site is sort of out of date, but try http://www.dnasoft.com/products/flesh/index.html. It is what Zygote uses to do the UVs for their models. info@DnAsoft.com will get you more into, like some of the manuals in PDF format to get a better idea of what it can do. It looks pretty neat, but I have never gotten a chance to see in operation other than a quick (SGI) demo at Zygote a year and then some ago. They are supposed to be nearly done porting it from SGI to NT. The original port (at SIGGRAPH) was an XWindows version, which they decided was not comercially viable, so they had to redo it is as a native windows app. This site uses cookies to deliver the best experience.
