Aiko has become my favorite model for doing Hawaiian, Polynesian and South-East Asian characters- but clothes in those styles are still lacking for her...(sniff)...

Here's Aiko with Koshini's Island Girl git-up- works o.k.
(and looks really good)- but has limited Posability.

Here's Aiko in a modified Koshini Island Girl and PhilC V3 Hula Girl set...

There are terrific clothes in this PhilC set, including three Sarong styles (ideal for South Seas babes), but the V3 settings also allow only limited posing.

I WISH Phil could make a set for S3- so A3-S3 could wear them in a greater range of poses...(sniff)...

Here's Aiko (A3-S3) with the Poserworld "Nightgown" (for V3 ONLY- sniff) The English Nightgown actually became the clothes model for the very popular Hawaiian "Muu Muu"- but this V3 only version has almost NO posability on A3-S3 unfortunately. PLUS- I wish the mapping was a little better so that it could take other print designs...

Perhaps Steve could make a new S3 version of the "nightgown"?

Here's the PT version of the nightgown on A3-S3- I also like this "Muu Muu" style as well- if it could also be made for S3 (?) with better mapping...

The hat is from Steve's "Missionary" character- an ideal hat for Hawaiian girls in Muu Muu's.

"...but the V3 settings also allow only limited posing." Are you using Poser 4? If you have P5, the dynamic versions of PhilC's sarongs and grass skirt allow for very versatile posing. Before I had P5 I did an animation using the included Hula pose file and the conforming grass skirt ... even that version had enough morphs that it flowed very realistically. I don't remember what morphs come with the conforming sarongs, though. Anyway, nice suggestion ... that Hula set is one of my very favorite PhilC items.

Veritas777 ( ) posted Wed, 12 January 2005 at 7:09 PM

It's actually not an issue of posing Phil's sarongs, or the grass skirt- its more of an issue of getting them to hang onto Aiko (A3-S3) as she moves through a series of dance poses. I've created about 45 hula poses based on both modern and traditional hula styles- and Aiko is absolutely perfect for them- but the skirts sometimes go beserk... And- I think it would be a good selling item for Phil, now that Aiko is out (and free) and S3 is likely to be FREE at some point in the future. Steve at Poserworld usually supports S3 anyway in most of his releases, so it is surprising that he didn't do an S3 version on the Muu Muu's...

What is A3-S3? Is this some sort of new character?

Little_Dragon ( ) posted Wed, 12 January 2005 at 8:56 PM

Aiko 3 and Stephanie Petite, nakamuram.

I think most people do not yet realize the range of faces and characters that can be made with Aiko. She has great faces that you won't see in other DAZ unimesh characters...

She's also great for Malay characters- like Thai, Phillipino or Indonesian. Also her Caucasion faces are quite unique as well. I've made dozens of faces and characters with Aiko that you won't see on any of the other DAZ unimesh...

nakamuram ( ) posted Wed, 12 January 2005 at 10:44 PM

Is A3-V3 a combination of Aiko and Steph? Like Aiko's head on Steph's body?

Little_Dragon ( ) posted Wed, 12 January 2005 at 11:24 PM

The Aiko 3.0 Morphs and Maps package at DAZ includes a character file that allows Aiko to wear Stephanie Petite's clothing. And she also takes Stephanie Petite's morphs and textures. So yes, in a way, it's like Aiko's head on Steph's body.

nakamuram ( ) posted Wed, 12 January 2005 at 11:50 PM

But Aiko's body is so great. Why make it look like Steph's?

Nightwind ( ) posted Thu, 13 January 2005 at 1:42 AM

I think that was mostly so the poor girl could have a wardrobe, not that Steph Petite's wardrobe is that extensive, but it larger than Aiko 3's.

Veritas777 ( ) posted Thu, 13 January 2005 at 2:14 AM

Aiko takes V3 maps also- which is great as there are so many available and they can have a considerable effect, along with a bit of face morphing, on how she looks... I've even had some success with transferring V3 faces over to Aiko- they don't look the same of course, but create a somewhat "similiar" pleasing V3-Aiko mix. DAZ's "Little Darling's"- made to have V3 and S3 look more elf-like, also has a very attractive effect on Aiko's face. It's sort of like the children of a Caucasion and an Asian- they can be a very cute looking mix. In Japan, in fact, girls who are "half-half" are often highly reguarded as models as they are seen as the "future faces" that mix Japanese and Western cultures. This is why too many girls from Hawaii are offered model jobs in Japan as Caucasion-Japanese mix girls are considered very "kawai" (cute).

The thread above mentions that Aiko, which I like a lot, is available free. I know about Aiko 3 LE, but is the model used in the above images free? Where can I get it? Thanks, Krel

But does this hula stuff work with Furrette 2.0?

Veritas777 ( ) posted Thu, 13 January 2005 at 3:15 PM

All of the faces shown are using Aiko- I got them by trying other figure (V3-S3) face (fc2) or V3-S3 INJ Poses on Aiko. Because Aiko is a unimesh figure (-with a primarily Japanese Anime face-) does not preclude her from taking on other unimesh faces. But the effect is like rolling dice- trying another figure's fc2 or inj on Aiko creates ANOTHER FACE which is sort of like a cross between the Aiko face you started with and the fc2 or inj you experimented with. I have the complete Aiko Bundle- so maybe those characters have more potential morphable faces- I'm not sure. But the REI character was one which seemed to have a wide range of morphable faces using unimesh face tweaks and tricks. The Aiko Bundle is really worth getting if you want to really experiment with new Aiko faces. I guess the main point is that Aiko has a lot more character face potential than most people have seen so far- so expect other Renderosity character creators, or DAZ, to eventually release more varied Aiko characters in the future...

nakamuram ( ) posted Thu, 13 January 2005 at 7:57 PM

Thanks Vertias77!! I like Aiko's body, but did not care for the Anime face, so I transplanted Steph's head on her. Your results with 16, (which I think is the most realistic) are inspiring me to try V3 morphs.

>> *But does this hula stuff work with Furrette 2.0?*

It would need to be refitted, of course, but otherwise yes.

That's an old dynamic grass skirt in the pic above, with PhilC's animated hula pose. I'm working on something better for a future clothing pack.

Veritas777 ( ) posted Fri, 14 January 2005 at 2:45 PM

YES! The more Hawaiian stuff, the better for all Aiko's and Furette's!

nakamuram ( ) posted Fri, 14 January 2005 at 7:52 PM

Did you know that the Hawaiian's considered big heavy set women to be beautiful? Maybe you need some body morphs!!!

AntoniaTiger ( ) posted Sat, 15 January 2005 at 3:03 AM

The cult of thin is a relatively modern invention. And some guys I know were quite bewildered at the idea of a Rosie Cotton Fan Club.
