A good image. How long did it take you to make her clothes?

Well James, you must not be very familiar with Rena's work or else you'd know she doesn't "find" textures, she MAKES them and as someone who has seen the conception and progress of this figure I have to say it's her best one yet! And guess what? I'm jealous too - of her talent :-) You go girl!

Yes Kalypso, I know very well of Rena's work. And what I meant is the reference material she aquires to come up with to create the final tex map. Not the tex map itself. I was complimenting the whole process and the artist. James

That's alright James,no hurt feelings. we share such a strong bond with Kalypso that we tend to get over-protective to each other! :o) While on the texturing subject, I'd like to share a few of my secrets..I always work with 4 applications open at the very same time, Corel Photopaint 9, Poser4 (so I can test progressively),UVmapper to alter texture maps or assign new materials if needed, plus Windows exploreropen at the Geometries dir so I can delete old rsr files of last trial obj.. The source of this dress has been the original painting itself..a huge 2000dpi scan - size of an actual wall- so I could have all the detail I need! :o) From there on..it's just a matter of lots of patience..cutting off bits with masks, creating seamless fills, duplicating, cloning, adjusting hues and other effects..ending up with a result from 70 to 150 layers some times.. I like to keep my work that way till the very end, so I have full control for effects on each layer, over the final texture map as well as the bump map if needed! I'm just grateful that my PC doesn't choke on such huge graphic documents (usually ove 40MB before final combination with background and necessary compression), that's why I love Photopaint and wouldn't trade it for anything in the world! :o) On the specific dress, the hardest part was to much the above part with the skirt below during texturing..you see they are two completely different items with seperate maps of non corresponding sizes.. Top of the dress is sistervickie's nurse outfit by steve shanks (yeap..that's what I've used!) and bottom is a prop I made of the default formal dress - hip area and below! It took about 4 test renders and alterations but at the end I reached success.. texture and fills sizes did much! :o) This is a mini-tutorial I guess of my standard procedure ritual while I texture, so be all my guests and give it a shot yourselves..it's the part I enjoy the most while creating a character & it sure it's fun! :o)

Thanks Rena, I know how some messages get mis-read or just don't come off the way they should. ;-) 2000 dpi! Wow must be a tremendous file (size). I need a new scanner :( Thought I'd get one for the holidays, oh well. I also wish (like the olden days) it was easier to find hi-res images over the net. Thinking, a new section here would be great with a URL database of found hi-res images. Faces, textures and such. I do try to gleen every URL mentioned on the boards, but miss quite a few. Thanks also to those who will appriecieate the mini tut. You just keep giving and giving (this is a very good thing). I myself Use Poser 4, PhotoShop, UVmapper, (Infini-D and Carrara for modeling) to do basicly the same thing. James
