Subject: Posette sighting

This was in an ad for some kind of wrinkle-cream on the Spanish-language network Telemundo. They used morphs to show wrinkles, then dialed the morph to 0! Scientific proof indeed! (I didn't capture the motion, though.)

That's not Posette, that's Katty Ko, a Venezuelan actress and winner of the first annual Miss Digital World contest.

blah, blah, blah, default figure,yada,yada,yada... and strangly, while I don't speak Spanish, I've also found myself often tuned to Spanish language television channels lately because they makes for the best visuals when playing in the background with the sound off.

Katty Ko is based on Posette.

It looks like plain old posette to me.

I've seen both posette and the dork in many commercials on TV. They usually star in the cheap infomercial type of production.

I suppose that some people can't afford for either the Pixar or the Industrial Light & Magic types to model something original for them.

I've also seen posette and the dork being killed on the Discovery Channel. The two of them are often used to stage True Crime reenactment scenes on TV.

You know, from the point of view of the TV business, something like Katty Ko is not so different to the real thing. I expect they have a nice little contract with the same people as they would deal with for a real actress. Yes, they could use Posette, no problem, but there maybe isn't the same chain of authority they're used to, no signature from Posette or CL on any document they have. I don't know how she compares with the other Miss Digital World entries, but I'd bet the concept of a digital version of a real actress is much more comfortable for the suits involved.

Quote, "That's not Posette, that's Katty Ko, a Venezuelan actress and winner of the first annual Miss Digital World contest." That was that fixed contest, right?

Puntomaus ( ) posted Sat, 22 January 2005 at 7:43 AM

Ehhh ... I would not call that contest. The winner model looks so ugly. I wonder what kind of competent jury they had when a model like Nvidia's Dawn was on place 5 while this Katty thingy got place 1?

I saw Posette and Dork get thrown into the water when a hippo overturned their canoes, too. (Apparently, hippos are extremely dangerous; it was a really interesting documentary, made all the better by the appearance of Posette and Dork). bonni

I see the dork usually doing Car Lot advertisements...ie the local Ford dealership etc.

elizabyte ( ) posted Sat, 22 January 2005 at 9:23 AM

I'd buy a car from the Dork, wouldn't you? Hmm. I'd rather see Posette get eaten by a hippo, actually. bonni

I've seen the P4 baby being used forensically to depict shaken baby syndrome...

dlk30341 ( ) posted Sat, 22 January 2005 at 11:09 AM

No, I wouldn't buy a car from the dork....that said I'd rather see the dork, than the usual idiot/a real dork LOL screaming at the top of his lungs.

Ditto Nance. I like Telemundo for visuals because it's not encumbered by lawyering, sensitivity, or sophistication. Plenty of schmaltz.

CSI, An excellent TV show, which I heartily recommend, has just become available as fortnightly DVD/Video magazine. The first issue features an article on autopsies. The subject of this investigative surgery was none other than .... Michael. (Quite dead of course).

"They usually star in the cheap infomercial type of production." Hey, you might be talking about some of MY work there, so I must take offense! ;-) I've done some animation for infomercials with Poser in the past. ;-D

That's strange. It comes from the Spanish network "Telemundo" but the text is in English. ????????????

hauksdottir ( ) posted Sat, 22 January 2005 at 10:48 PM

My understanding is that for courtroom reconstructions and such, they want as standard a human figure that they can get lest they prejudice the jury. If an ugly female gets eaten by a hippo or a gorgeous one gets run over by a snarling freak, that might influence people's emotions... and if the models were morphed to resemble the parties in the case, the jurors might think that this was what really happened rather than a hypothetical set-up. Of course, using the devil baby for "shaken baby syndrome" is perhaps counter-productive. Carolly

Might also be talking about some of my infomercial work. If so, I apologize -- I get lazy keyframing...

I really must apologize -- I didn't mean to insult anyone's cheap infomercials.

I spend my late Saturday nights and Sunday afternoons channel surfing just so that I can watch the latest cookware/vacuum cleaner/exercise equipment 30 min. ads.

And if posette happens to be working out on that ab machine.......then I am 100% more likely to buy the thing, you bet.

(Let's see -- 100% more of 0% equals -- what?)
