This is pretty much it for the main unit. I'll add cords and controller, a game CD, etc. in a final render. Modeled in Wings3d, textured and rendered in Bryce5. A wireframe can be seen at the link.

Very good modeling. There actually is a PS1 controller already in the FreeStuff. But if you want to model your own, I understand. Either way, it looks great.

Yeah, modeling my own stuff when possible is good exercise for learning a modeling program. Thanks to all for the positive feedback. BTW, I have a PS2 but that solid black box wasn't as fun to look at, IMHO. :^)

Great wings model! I read an article somewhere that the next generation media format will be decided by whoever wins the next console war, Microsoft with HD-DVD's, Sony with Blue-ray discs, or Nintendo with their unannounced format. Personally, I'm holding out for a PS3.

Great work, but shouldn't it be covered in pizza and coke?

The PS3 will definitely by Blu-Ray discs, because Soney makes both, so that's a given. Nintendo... that's a tough one. They stated before that they'd rather have their systems focus on game play, rather then one of those "all-in-one" systems with feature after feature crammed together, never really being good.

lordstormdragon ( ) posted Sat, 22 January 2005 at 10:25 PM

Aye, Nintendo has always focused on gameplay, and it's done nothing but benefit them. I think they will be edged out very soon, though, if they can't keep up with new hardware...

Oh yeah, TJohn! AWESOME model. I've never seen it's equal, with any program. Looks damn perfect.

Microsoft is a software developer, and has no industry clout when it comes to the next generation of formats being used,Sony is backed for the most part by Phillips/RCA and all other electronics manufacturers.Sony singlehandedly made CDs an industry wide format because of thier support back in the 80's.X-box is a failure worldwide only being supported in USA(the sega Dreamcast has sold more units worldwide than the X-box).I see nintendo going the route of sega and making games only in the next few years.Just my opinion though. Great playstation model too! best I've seen so far.

Aye, I agree with you for the most part, Twisted. Only, to say that Microsoft has "no industry clout" is a gross underestimation of Emperor Gates.

TwistedBolt ( ) posted Sun, 23 January 2005 at 7:55 PM

Well,I mean "no clout" when it comes to the product side.Sony is the largest manufacturing company for CD players and DVD players. Most other companys follow Sonys lead(like the "Walkman" and such).I don't think the other companys like Phillips or RCA would like Billy Gates telling them what thier next home format is going to be,they might stiff MS just because they can.LOL.

And that "stiffing" would be pretty cool, if you ask me!
