Subject: New to poser! Need some tips.

My friend recently gave me his copy of Poser 5 and I'm dying to get started in it.. I just have no idea how to use it! I found this forum and thought it might be a good place to get some tips for a newbie. If anyone has any advice/tips or tutorials to point me towards.. I'd greatly appreciate it!! Also, I was wondering where all downloads for poser go? Somewhere in the Runtime file, I believe? But what goes where? Thanks so much in advance!! :)

First of all, welcome to renderosity, the Poser forum, and the Poser hobby (or addiction)...

If you click on the Poser Forum banner at the top of this forum, that will take you to the backroom. On the right side of the page is a menu. select "Tutorials" and there you will find several tutorials that will tell you pretty much everything you need to know to get started.

Also, if you go to Curious Labs' website you can download a transfer of ownership form. If you can get your friend to fill in his data and both of you sign it, then send it in, they will re-register your copy of Poser in your name, making you the legal owner, which will entitle you to support, upgrade rights, etc.

What mm said, with the addition of... Read Dr Geep's tutorials. All of them. And read the threads beyond page one. There's some good stuff back there, honestly. Don't be afraid to ask questions. We love to point and laugh, er, no, I mean, we're nice people. Usually. :)

Well, I'd have to say WyrmMaster is who're you're looking for!! He's the king of Big Ti... OH!!! You said "Tips"!! Sorry!! LOL!!! ;) My tip: Read this forum!!! I've been lurking here for ages!! I rarely post but I always read the messages posted all the time!! I've learned TONS (or tonnes for us metric folks) just from being a lurker!! I love Renderosity!! I'd know extremely little about 3D & Poser if it wasn't for Renderosity and the great community here!! Take care! G
